So after the morning session at Le Porge, after a cheeseburger, a sandwich with artificial chicken, 3 beers, we decided to surf again at La Jenny. And it was rewarding.
At first, the swell was ugly with a tide too low. but after 45mn, waves started to become better. I got some good walls pretty fast but not too much, mainly rights.
I had to go to school to take my children and we had to move at the best time for the waves.
In fact we were all destroyed by this funny day !

Description:
Swell was there but sandbanks not! It was a massive shorebreak. I caught few waves, some of them was 1.2m+ near 1.5m... Engaged take-off ! The new 7S SuperFish works great!

Description:
Here we are: Richard, Chris and me. A whole day dedicated to surf without wifes and kids.
We arrived too late and the tide was low. We see tons of close outs with a long and powerful swell. Chris had his new board a 7S superfish and Richard had..heuu..in fact he has nothing, no arms to paddle...
I managed to catch some hollow drops, no figure but just a fight to survive. At the end it was a good session but it was not a funny session.

Reid, Jason and I went for a surf down on C-Street again. Long breaks between sets and choppy wind swell, but we had a great day. This is one of my favorite surf spots, I just wish it wasn't 45 miles away.

I drove from Perkins to the pier and the best I could find was an almost ankle to knee swell at the Officers club. The crowd was down to just a hanfull of hopefull soels who's patiance would pay off with a rare rouge set of knee to chest. With two hours dedicated to nothing better (as if there was ever anything better) to do than sit in the line up I was able to drop into two such rare sets. The first provided an outstanding chest high break that left me dragging my fingure tips accross the face as I made a long sweeping bottom turn beore drifting back up the face to trim in for a 5 second nose ride and a couple of S turns before getting closed out. The second gave me my last wave of the day, this just above waist wave gave me a nice long nose ride a couple quick S turns to a floater and then as it closed out a great front ride all the way to the shore where I stepped off just before my skeg touched the beach. Days like today prove once again it doesn't need to be epic to have a great session!

Maggie & I took Jeff, Annie & Reid to C-Street in the Van again. And this time Lucy (Annie & Reid's dog) came with. Jeff, Reid and I surfed. Nice waves, right at high-tide, not too crowded (though I did get a few waves snaked from me). Good session and I love that break, just wish it wasn't 45 miles away.

I expected that sunday would be the best day of the week end...But when I arrived, I just found ugly close outs. Even with the tide, it stayed bad.
I caught 6 waves: the last one was the best. I just take off, a big hollow drop, a long bottom turn which was very technical as there was no water and the wave was stepping off...
you could expect a peak...
...but it was only a close out !

Went to the officers club after checking out perkins and not seeing anything great. I am still in shock at how great the locals are here! After surfing in Hawaii for years and only being talked to after you prove yourself repeatedly at the same breaks the fact that everyone is so social and helpful in Florida amazes me.
The waves were a good waist high with the rare chest high set and a lot of fun. As what seems like the norm the dawn patrol consisted of less than five of us, but by 730 there were about thirty surfers in the water with another ten or so on the beach. Everyone shared the aloha and seemed to be having a great morning of it. We even had two pods of dolphins cruise through the outer break coming within 3 meters of the line up. All in all it was what is rapidly beginning to be an average day on the space coast.

Another great sunrise session on the Central Florida Coast. The waves were knee to waist with occasional higher sets. At sunrise there were only four of us sharing the breaks, but by 7am the crowds started to arrive. The waves were a little choppy with the offshore winds coming in at about 10 knots. The waves came in a little disorganized but consistantly at about 9 seconds. All this lead to a day of fun rides of a medium length with occasional close out sets. What really made the day was the small group that showed up for dawn patrol and were friendly enough to share information on some great longboard breaks in the area...these guys know how to share the Aloha spirt. A big mahalo to all the old guys who remember what it's like to be the new surfer in the area.

So this was my first session since I left Hawaii and the wait to get my boards and a swell to arrive could not have taken longer. The conditions were great for a fun session all alone. I was in the water to watch the sun rise over the Atlantic and the first part of an incoming swell to arrive. The waves were remarkably heavy for as small as they were and exceeded my expectations. I had a great morning of nose rides and floaters. I can not wait for tomorrow when the swell is bigger and the beach is just as empty!

Hot, hot, hot! The lazy hazy days of summer hit out of the June Gloom banishing the dense early morning fog to Davey Jones locker. 90 F at the beach, over 100 F in downtown LA and 118 in Palm Springs! The water warmed up, seemingly over night, from a cold 56 F to a warm 70 F! A massive high pressure system over Mexico, early morning offshore winds and a combination of southern hemi swells ... surf for a solid week!
Started out on the dawn patrol at Barracuda's over by the north wall of the river jetty at Ray Bay. Waist to chest with the occasional head high peaks. A little walled as you hit the inside boomerang, needed the right wave and the right tide to make it across. Finished up the week at Northside Seal Pier as the minus low tide drained out the river. Clean, hot waist to chest with up to shoulder high left peaks off the jetty or rights off the middle sandbank.
Switched back and forth between my 9'2" performance longboard and my 7'2" SuperFish.

Description:
A learning session, after playing around over the last year, decided it would be good to actually have a lesson and it really helped. Partly because the waves were perfect (small but perfectly formed as the actress said to the bishop) and I had a nice stable board. I have been playing on a Minimal for a while which was too small and using the right board made a huge difference, giving me confidence and come through able to catch the wave, pop up and turn. Great session!

It was small. The best waves were only 1meter. Nevermind, it was fun as we were only 3 on the peak. I caugt some fun ones, I could have long turns, roller and some floaters.

I expected perfect conditions but it was a little disappointed as the swell was multipeak and the tide a little to low.
I caught good waves with some tubes (not so bad 
). But as the tide was lower, there was only close-outs and the wind get onshore.
I move towards the north and found an ugly bowl: it was really powerful and fun !

Along the way from Gironde to Basque County we had a stop at Messanges at high noon. A nice campervan place invited us to stay over night there. Unfortunately there was still only a small swell and too much onshore wind (as alomost during the afternoon). My hope for a good ride came to zero and so we decided to have an extended dinner. After various fish and cheese plus too much wine I had a walk up to the dune (You cannot view the ocean from the parking) and mentioned the wind had dropped and a bit more of power came into the surf. Full stuffed I decided not to go in, but my wife pushed me with the words: The hole day You moan about the waves and now You stay out? Well, I have to thank her for the best session during this trip so far. The waves came up minute by minute, incoming tide formed nice barrels and best of all: Only a handfull of boards out 'cause all others had also resigned!

Description:
Dead albino seal washed up on the beach this morning at northside, had not been dead too long, gave it a kick and you could hear its stomach slosh! Had a couple of puncture wounds and no eyes ... sharkbait?
June Gloom this morning, low clouds and light drizzle, mild "Catalina Eddy" SE on-shore wind but pretty clean conditions overall with waist to chest waves with the occasional shoulder high sets. Caught some nice left hand peaks and a couple of hot right-handers in and through traffic.
My buddy and I both took-off on one of the bigger peaks, I wanted to go right but he paddled left forcing me into the break so got caught up in the lip just as some poor guy was floundering inside, hit him at full speed, poor kid think I busted his wrist!
