What a session! The tide was strong (110) but waves were perfect and we were only 2. I stayed alone in the water for 45mn more. Even the water was cold, it was nearly a dream session: easy to take hollow but not too fast waves !
I tested my new wetsuit (a Psycho Freak) which is wonderful.

It was really cold ! I had to stop my session after 1:30... As I was the first in the water, I took a too short board, I should have take the 6'8". Nethermind, as the waves were glassy, the big point was to take off. After the board was perfect.

What a session ! the waves were just perfect: a peaky bowl was rising always at the same place then you could surf a fun wall. We were not too many on the peak (only 5 on the left). I scored really good turns ! the wava was not so tubular and it was hard to get some barrel.
The year 2010 will be a good one !
I took this photo and when I realized it was perfect, I just ran.

It was a very good session : big wave, yes big waves ! we were only 3 surfers in the water at the peak of the swell. i took some big drop: hard to take, hard paddling, I can't see anything then a long long wall. With the lower tide, more people came. I felt several time because of wind.

Forecast was announcing a 1.3m swell but the period was long. I found a multipeak swell but it was between 1.5 and 2m... Waves were very good: hollow and tubular but not too fast.
I have scored some great lefts with 2 tubes. A very good session.

The temperature of the water is falling down: 3 or 4 ° just in one week. The swell was small and long. When I arrived, it was nearly only a close out. But I went into the water and after 10mn, the left started to work. There was only one problem... a strong current ! (that's why the left was working....) I was burnt after 1 hour !

Ouch: 1.5m, 12 s period... we went to the north and found some really powerful waves. It was in fact a big shorebreak which opened from time to time. I get tubes and mutant waves (larger than high...). It was a hard but fun session.

I was with Zitoune early in the morning. The swell was powerful (11s). It was really hard to catch waves because the peak was moving. But after few tries, we got got some good rights: late take offs, big turns and plenty of fun. We were only 3 !
I went outside and came back: we were...12 surfers ! too much for me...

It was a really good session. I was surprised as surfers told me that it was working at high tide. I was a little too late. ANd it was CROWDED:30 surfers on one large peak...
Hope fully I got good ones: one good left tube, a big long rigt ( no tricks, only a long tri), again a big strange left tube not as good as the first one.

The swell was perfect asyou can see on the photo. But the sandbanks were pretty bad. I got some waves but most of them were close outs. I get indeed 2 really good waves. Better than nothing...

It didn't seem powerful at first as you can see on the picture. In fact, the outside bank was working pretty well. Not as often as the ither peaks so I was alone. But it was bigger and powerful: I got hollow right, wery fast. I could have done few turns.

We were at the best moment of the tide and found a fun peak with good waves. After one hour, it was too low and it was a shorebreak. I'va got a long floater and a small aerial.

I just went in the water to test my wife's new board: it's a g board (in foam) 6'6". Of course it's not a good board but it's not so bad and I managed to surf with it (no roller though).
It's a good board for beginners.

The swell rose up during the night up to 3m. I went to Guethary but the swell was to big for me: I had only my 6'8"and waves were around 4m... I decided to go to Lafitenia again. When I arrived, there were already 20 surfers in the water and it was big powerful and ugly: 2 to 2.5m on the reef.
The shorebreak was big. After a long paddle I discovered the powerful current which took you directly to the reef if you take a set on your head. But the biggest problem was the high level of surfing in the water: on the 20 surfers, only 5 of them took nearly all the waves... 5 other surfers took some waves and the others just watched. The best surfers were really impressive: late take-of close to the reef, ugly bottom then they started to surf the long wall. They just took all.
I resume: a big swell, a narrow take-off, a dangerous current, really good surfers, a fierce competition, I was backside, it was my second session at this spot and I was hurted few days before at my shoulder...
I have been destroyed by two bigger sets (more than 3 meters). They are one more problem: you hesitate to go near the reef because you are frightened to take a set on your head (one every 30mn...)
I took "only" 2 waves but they were big (not the biggest but some of the solid sets), powerful and it was hard because of the competition. I was really happy to manage to take this.
First lesson: take a gun if you want to surf Guethary
Second lesson: be at your top if you want to compete at Lafitenia on a big swell

I never surfed Lafitenia and didn't knew where it was. This morning, I wake up early and, with a good map, I went to this spot. It was empty and beautiful 1.20 m glassy waves were breaking. I just ran on the road and jumped into the water. I was alone ! It's absolutely silly when you know that it one of the most crowded spot in France... I surfed 2 waves alone: it's a long right with a sometimes ugly take off. After, it's a fun easy wave with long walls where you can worj your cut back. After we were only two and surfedthe right alone for 40mn. When I went out, there were 20 surfers and it became hard to surf.

It was solid and multipeak: so it was hard to take waves. I also make the classic mistake: I took a too small board, my fish. I managed to take wave but it was difficult to make big turns on the small board. Nethermind, I got some good one. I remember 2 big hollow lefts and a good right (I was well placed on my board and have done fun rollers).
I met also angry locals (angry with everyone). They were pretty funny in fact !

The waves were a little bigger than expected and I was just at the right moment after the low tide. We were only 2. I got mainly 1m to 1.2m waves but sometimes, beautiful and hollow 1.5m sets were breaking.
I got 2 of the biggest waves: hollow right were I was backside and at the enter of the tube. A really good memory.

The swell was expected to rise during the day from 1.20m to 2.5m. When I came, the tide was high but a beautiful outside bank was working: perfect lefts were breaking every ten minutes. I was alone in the water and it was really good. Waves werfe powerful so I just make big turns in the glassy faces.
After one hour, the peak was starting to close out. I went outside to check the south. But it was not a good choice: there was a right but not as good with a lot of surfers. after 20mn I came back to the left. It started breaking better and hollower. The best waves were around a solid 2m with a lot of current but the left was long, hollow and makeable.
We were only two surfers as it was hard. After 3 waves, I dropped in a solid one: I started with a long fun wall then an hollow bowl started to rise up just in front of me, I hesitated as it was big but I slowed down, stayed really high in the wave and get tubed, a big one, get the lip on my head at the end then I continued to surf on the end of the wall with big turns. It was one of my top ten wave in my life.
As I was tired, I went out. It was a good choice: the swell continued to rise up and it became too big.

I came back inthe evening because the wind dropped down. It was high tide and the swell was smaller than the morning. It was nearly only a shorebreak. But sometimes, few waves were opening. They were very fast and hollow. I got few good ones and the last one was the best one: a good beautiful tube (I pulled in and get out...). A good session at the end.
