English (Traducir este texto en Español): You cannot beat the Barrier's East Coast beaches for surf that goes off. Get yourself a surf board and head for Medlands Beach for excellent waves. The undercurrent (rip) can be very strong so as a safety measure, always go in pairs.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): this spot is awsome you rent out a little house for the weekend on the beach and its the only one there so you have your own private bach for how long you rent it and it is famous for having the most brown teal ducks in the world so if your going to book the place out book months before

- Oh um um did ur grandmother used to know the 'ding dings'. My family has been going to the barrier for years. I'm pretty sure my grandmother used to surf with yours? We know each other. She used to ride a kauri plank she shaped at home apparantly they were super high quality boards. Oh and I was out there the other day and this natural surfer was rippig ther lid off the wave on his backhand. That was epic. He was the man.
Post a comment and hopefully we can meet up, reminiss etc

This Place Goes Off - This place goes off, still frothing from the last SE swell. My Great Grandmother used to surf this place in 02, 1902 that is, where the wave would grind off the point all the way into the carpark. Filth!

Waste of time - Don't bother with this spot, and Barrier as a whole for that matter. It just doesn't work. Period. The beachies are shifty, and the place up in Okiwi is weak, doesn't break properly, and infested with bronzies. Got bumped twice in two weeks last time I was there - just chasing ripples. Go to Piha if you want some waves around Auckland.
