Good spot - Good to see a place still exists where the locals havent been tainted by tourists. They were really respectful of everyone in the lineup, tourists and fellow surfers alike and had no attitude at all. They just surf because it is fun to go catch some waves with friends Simple as that Hopefully it remains that way as id love to go back

NATURAL HIGH - Sipacate, (you write it with an "S"), it`s the best surfing spot in Guate, it is really good all year round, you can caught pretty funny waves and head high barrels when it`s really good. Very friendly people, (except for the waitress at rancho carrillo) ask for Alvaro, he is a living legeng of the surf in Guate. Nice waves, nice place, all naturaleza. SURF FOREVER

rancho carillo sucks - sipacate is a decent wave, but rancho carillo realy sucks. the people that run that place are crooks. they booted me and my friend from our double room because it was reserved for the night. the only other room available was for $60 because it was "muy grande" and for 5 people, but it wasnt even that big and it was a dump. they would not budge on the price, so I slept outside on a hammock and caught a cold. also, the food is overpriced and the service sucks. after waiting an hour for my stinkin burger, the server told me to pay upfront before he brought me the burger like it was fuckin mcdonalds. I said no. then he said he wouldnt bring it. he ended up bringin it anyway, and I paid him right after. they treated my salvadorean friends like dirt too. the final straw was when they made me pay for the 90 second boat ride back to town because I lost my ticket, even though there would have been no way for me to get there without buying the ticket in the 1st place. rancho carillo is the only place to stay in the area, and they take advantage of that. if you have to surf in guatemala, go to el paredon where the people are cool and the prices are reasonable. its the same wave, just 7 kms down the beach. do not go to rancho carillo. theyre crooks and they give guatemala a bad name.

Rancho Corillo A great place to stay - This was my first visit to Guatemala and a very plesant one. I tried several different surf spots and found Rancho Corillo very nice. The locals were nice and the rooms were clean and food was great. The surf was pretty good as long and there is a bit of a swell but the wind gets to it pretty quick. I met a few local surfers who were all very nice, in fact one started calling off his buddies so I could catch more waves. If in Guatemala, I would highly recomend staying at Rancho Corillo. Hopefully I can post some of the photos we took.

Best point in Guatemala - I have read a lot of good comments about Sipacate, and just one bad comment. We went to Sipacate almost every week, and I think it's great. It's safe, beautiful, quiet, clean, cheap, the waves are really good in a good day, and there aren't so much locals or surfers over there. So if you're in Guatemala, the best place to go surfin' is Sipacate, it doesn't matter if you don't have a board, or if your board is broken, 'cause there is a shaper named Alvaro, he makes a good work at a fair price.
