It really exist - It´s a dangerous spot right in front of the Towers on Calafia and the new houses hard to get since it´s private now it´s a little pocket beach rocky it´s a right wave on nw swell take off from one rock and ends on another works only from 5ft+ for kamikaze
Por but it ain't that great , 01-06-2008
Mushrooms does exist - I've been reading some of these posts, and only 1 person seems to have a clue where this spot is. I wouldn't even really call it a spot...it's a big, hella drop with a throwing right peak into a flat shoulder. Yeah, a big take-off which dissolves into nothing. BTW you retards, it's on the north end of the small bay/cove at Popotla. DUH.

great surfing - Spent a week at mushrooms. Surf is great can't wait to go back.

- This place does not exist. You're confusing it with another break.
Por anonymous , 18-10-2005
- Its pretty simple, you stay at the Calafia Hotel and get an ocean front room looking right over the small bay mushrooms? and if its on, there is a right/left to be surfed (in front) while your girlfriend or kids watch from the hotel room. Walk down from the hotel, there's an easy path. Many urchins, you must wear booties or ELSE! Water is colder here, even in summer. During strong south swell the long rights in front of the Calafia Hotel on the south end of the point will light up. Beware of rocks in the impact zone. If its huge you can really only paddle out by a scary paddle around the point and later wash up down the south beach and walk all the way back. It may be possible on a large swell to paddle up from the beach but good luck. Probably best on moderate south swell on the right tide. The cliff in front of the restaurant is too slippery and steep, sewage flows right down to the shelf! We watched from the restaurant during a hurricane swell, 3 guys out - 3 broken boards. The larger waves and sets are rogue and crash all over the place. Its even more entertainment to watch from the restaurant with a pitcher of Margerita, while the chaos unfolds below.!!!!

GREAT SPOT - NOT DESCRIBED RIGHT BUT A REALLY GOOD SPOT. USED TO HAVE TO DUCK UNDER BARBWIRE TO GET TO IT AND GO DOWN A SMALL CLIFFSIDE PATH - IN FACT YOU STILL CAN. ONE PROBLEM - ITS RIGHT AT THE CHECKPOINT SO ITS AKWARD NOW. IT USED TO BE A GREAT SPOT TO GET YOUR CAR RIPPED BUT NOW THE CHECKPOINT HAS ELIMINATED THAT ALONG WITH TRESPASSING TO GET IN. GOOD WAVE - HARD TO GET IN. BY A PLACE JUST SOUTH AND YOU CAN ENJOY THE SPOILS.

Let it be - Why would anyone want to try and correct inaccurate descriptions and location details posted on this website? If you surf a spot that you like, why would you promote it to the masses? Are you gay?

Sorry anon that's K38 not "shrooms" - Mushrooms is a shallow shelf/reef protecting a small cove at the outer end of Punta el Descanso. Can be found by parking at the Califia Hotel parking lot and walking west toward the end of the point. That's right if you blink you might miss it. Used to be you could drive right down to it. Easy to find. You just had to look for the garbage and broken bottles. Surfers could check it from the road. Now there is a huge ten story condo next to the highway that blocks the view of the wave.
