English (Traducir este texto en Español): The wave has three sections, a hollow tubular take-off followed by a wall for practising you turns and then a final tubular section. One of Peru's best, if least accessible waves!
The finest right-breaking wave is to be found in Ica. Because of its position, the island features the only wave in Peru where right-running, tubular waves break to the west. It is a fairly long wave, which divides up into four sections. The water is very cold, and strong winds gust in the afternoons. San Gallán is a unique spot, where surfers take to the waves amidst hundreds of sea lions. The island, in front of the Paracas, Pensinula, was recently made part of the Paracas National Reserve
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Not a regular spot - needs a southern swell to work really well. On a SW swell works on two sections only. San Gallan works on mid to high tides, with swell in the range 4ft min 7-8ft max... beyond this it closes out.
When working you can get a few surfers hanging out - which is a testament to its quality!

This island is ubicated in a protected natural reserve, there are a lot of sea wolves, Humboldt pinguins and seagulls, is a espectacular trip, when you are surfing the sea wolves swim around you , but are totally inofensive.
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Great place to meet sea-lions in the water.... the wave is in the middle of spectacular surroundings - way out at sea in a very nature-rich reserve.

Camping is possible, but the island is a very harsh environment - desertic and windy: most people opt for the day trip solution even if it is more expensive!

I think this spot is the best right in Peru, all the surftrip is wonderfull, the wave is very powerfull and a lot of surfboards are broken, more go to this spot more enjoy this trip. I love this Island ¡¡¡¡¡

No Camping On the Island - I have been meaning to post this for over a year but forgot till I was on this site again. I went to Peru in 2003.The Park officals have closed the park to all camping. I went there with all my gear and was told this by the boat drivers. I thought they just wanted to get more cash out of me by taking me everyday to the break instead of just once. The boat ride is expensive over US$125 and that was in 2003. Gas is about twice as expensive now.We takled to the Park Officals in person and they told us some sufers had killed a seal and trashed the beach near the break. So all tourism was off limits on the island. In the water was fine. The boat drivers got in big trouble if they trasported you there and left you to camp. The boat ride was worth it and the waves were good, not as good as described here. The wind can be an issue on the boat ride. Also make sure you get a good boat. We opted for the speed boat was were glad we did so. We ended up rescueing a fishing boat that was dead in the water. I would be a big poblem if you got a bad boat. The prevaling wind would blow you deep into the park and you would have to walk miles to get to a place where you could get a ride. Good luck
