Not easy. Located between Pacasmayo and Puerto Chicama. Turn off is on dirt road about 1km south of the town of San Pedro de Lloc which is on the Pan American Highway. Follow dirt road (some sand so be careful) toward the hills which are SW. The point is at the base of the hills at an old abandoned fishing village. About 5km on dirt road from Pan Am Highway.

 Información adicional

Puemape is another in northern Peru's chain of long left point breaks. Though unlike Chicama and Pacasmayo the prevailing S wind blows it out, not well protected. Best to surf it early in the morning and at a low tide. The takeoff is in front of a rocky headland, not too close but on a big day it could pose a problem if you eat it. The wave peels quickly and then wraps into a bay where it slows down. Drive your car to the fishing village, which is a ghost town. No facilities at the point.

Ambiente

Puemape is an eerie ghost town. Check out the buildings, they are made of mud bricks but instead of rocks in the mix it is crustaceans and mollusks. Looks like a town from Fistful of Dollars. A fun wave with plenty of juice. More consistent than Chicama.

PUEMAPE - THE NAME OF THE BEACH IS AUTHENTIC PUEMAPE NO POEMAPE, PUEMAPE is originally from the Mochica culture, INKA PRE 1500 BC, is a very MISTICA

- Great wave, I surfed it last week 4 times, August 2007.
Found the current very strong flowing in the direction of the wave. Hard to paddle back to the take off, better to walk back and jump off the rocks. The last bit off the road has deep sand, give it a good run up. The budget fiat rental made it.

bad water - i only surfed here a couple of time and foun d it a pretty intense wave, heaving up fast and running right down the rocks. on the whole an exciting wave and not to be missed.. go in off the rocks and come in round in the bay.. i found the water quality very very bad on the second occasion, maybe flowing up from malibrigo (not sure how far it is)... there was a small wreck on the reef but not enough to totally steep the water in raw SH1T
