Surf trip description:

Putting together random colors that look nice and calling your custom flag done is one way to design a flag. It's also an extremely simple and often uninspired way of designing a flag. Instead of spinning the color wheel inside your head and picking a few hues that go together, you could design a flag around a certain theme. A themed color scheme is not only beautiful but also extremely clever and interesting.

Logo

A color theme that's always appropriate is one based on your logo. Put your logo on the flag and use its color or colors as the basis for your design. If you need more colors, pick ones that go well with the color of the logo and will make it stand out.

Seasons

Custom flags with colors based on the seasons are incredibly useful. You can keep a season-inspired flag up for a quarter of the year. Lighter, pastel shades are perfect for spring. Green, pink, and purple are especially fitting. Bright colors just scream summer. Yellow and blues, which are the colors of a warm beach, give off very strong summer vibes. Autumn colors are usually a bit muted but they make up for it by being fiery warm colors. Blues, grays, and white are all very wintery colors.

Holidays

If you want to be even more specific, pick a theme that revolves around a certain holiday. You often see custom flags themed around Independence Day but many other holidays are overlooked. Use reds, pinks, and purples to create a romantic Valentine's Day flag. Green is, of course, a great color for a Saint Patrick's Day flag. Orange and black pair perfectly together to make a spooky Halloween flag. There are several gift-centric holidays in winter you can theme a flag around. Red and green work together to make a merry-looking Christmas flag. Add black to the mix and you can create a Kwanzaa flag. Blue and white are the colors of Hanukkah. You can create a flag based on almost any holiday you can think of.

These are just a few common themes you could base your custom flags on. With some creativity, there are probably many more you could come up with. Use the colors of your city or state flag for an anniversary sale. If your area has local festivals or events, use the colors associated with those events. Create flags based on the birthstone of each month. The possibilities are absolutely endless.
