chopes - campbell stewart makes clifton beach look as dangerous as chopes he gets the crazy wipeouts by trying 2 turn on a 0.5 wave and he then comes out with broken bones campbell stewart is dangerous so look out.

Viduka - Tassie surf goes off in winter. Taswegian surfers are hardcore surfers who are almost insane. The crazier they are, the better they surf.I think it's the inbreeding that sends this breed of people going off in the surf and obviously in bed too.

Bruce Lee - Tassie's waves are certainly something to write home about, but the only problem is that it is so damn cold. Tassie has it's own type of culture, unlike that in other parts of oz. The true surfers their are truly hardcore surfers. They have to be, no other way.If anyone gets a chance I fully recommend you go down and have a look, but go full hog and make sure you go down in winter.Beware this place is not for the faint hearted.Tasmanians are a little backward as well which will make you trip a little more entertaining. They believe anything.

wetsuit dilema - I live on the Northern Beaches of sydney but regularly surf the UK aand Ireland .I am about to go to Tassie for a month. One thing I know is that it is best to go taped and sealed over thickness.I often found a 5'5" the best board for Ireland or Cornish beachies but you can't float the little bugger in a 5/6!.I had a 3/4 Rip curl ultimate for winter and a 2mm Peak Steamer for summer no probs so long as its a tight fit and your booties are sound.!Temps in Tassie look balmy compared to 7 deg.Easter Portrush!col

Tassie Does Have Epic Surf - Whats the deal with all you guys bagging out Tasmania? Don't you guys have naything better to do..like just surfing or something instead of saying shit about other places? You cant judge Tasmanian surf by just crapping on about stupid Cliffy Beach, tehre are at least 30 other breaks that are very consistant and are clean hard waves and I bet half of you blokes bagging out Tassie wouldn't have to balls to ride them....Cheers, KJP.S -> Just email me and I will send you guys some of the latest pcture/photos that of some of these places...truely epic I must say.

Hey, its balmy down there guys..... - Check this site out. http://www.marine.csiro.au/~lband/web_point/It gives you the surface temperatures for the ocean. Click on Bells Beach area in Vic and the water is 12.1C (and I can tell you it feels like it in a 3/2 steamer after a couple of hours). Click on Port Arthur area and its a balmy 12.6C. (for week ending 31/8) Also you duck around the corner to Merimbula, NSW and its almost 18C. Not what you'd expect eh? Check it out.
