- Watch out for the Italians here and at South point! They WILL try to catch every wave!!!!! Very annoying.

Learning to surf at Freights - My son and I learnt to surf at Freights in Jan 06.
A perfect spot for beginners although the waves can get high.We got up on our first wave.
Alan Burke was our surf teacher.Thanks Alan!

Learned to surf at freights. - I learned to surf at freights. The locals are really nice around there. And I do remember the paddle out was tough.

Re: Paddle Out - On small days, yeah, its an easy paddle out. I lived near the lighthouse for most of my life, and overhead+, the paddle out at Freights is no joke, especially if you take a wave all the way to the shorebreak. When the swell is on, there is a serious current pulling to the right all the way to Miami Beach/Oistins.

Freights Great for the Kids - Great spot for young kids, who like to get long rides. Somebody said the paddle back out was tough...they must have been out of shape...my Dad who is in his 70 could paddle out easily!!!

no way - dont worry you will be fine with your booties, urchins or reef will not penetrate it. besides the urchins arent bad anyhow, you just got watch were you step.

Silver sands - Any of you guys got any advice about cheap places to stay at silver sands area. I'm heading over in june and hopeing to get some waves, what do you reckon the chances are?
