Intense - I surfed Banzai for years and it was always fun to surf.  The wave is a short, but extremely powerful bowl that breaks into a hollow tube for 15-20 meters.  The takeoff is tough, as only late takeoffs will access the wave, it is a matter of

Awesome!! - The best wave on the island is a rivermouth just outside of Roseau called Layou. The conditions have to be just right for it to break, consequently once - twice a year is exceptionally lucky, but when you catch it just right, the wave is an a-frame barrel that seems to come out of nowhere due to the deeper water on the outside. Like I said, it is rare but well worth the trek if you happen to catch it. The most consistent wave on the island is a break on the northeast end of the island called L'anse Tortue (pronounced Las Tor-tee). It is a secluded cove with a reef break on the left hand side of a natural channel and a sand bottom beach break that peels off the outcropping cliffs on the right hand side of the channel. The beach is amazing, it is a mixture of white sand and black volcanic sand with palm trees and a miniscule river mouth. In the 10 years that I lived in Dominica, there are only 2 days that I can recall it being absolutely flat at this break. From the beach, the reef break on the outside appears much smaller than it actually is. If youre looking for a solid wave that you can count on as far as consistency and form, this is the spot. As far as sharks go, never spotted any in the entire time there.

I will have a car so any one who wants to surf hit me up! also wondering about access to things like fresh board if i break one. Is there a surf shop on the island? Any way wanna make friends Email me I can bring stuff from the us is there is any thing y'all need. so glad I found a sight that dose not think that dominica is the DR.

Best time to surf Dominica - I was thinking about going to surf Dominica this summer around late July. How is the surf that time of year?
