Not the same - Took a trip to San Pedrito and the surrounding area in 2003 and again in 2018. The first time the wave was just ok, not that great of a wave, very short ride and mushy but there were only 5 to 10 people out. During the most recent trip there were 40 to 70 people in the water every session and the waves were worse. Locals were saying that there was a storm that moved through in recent years that destroyed the point that once made this wave good. It's a shame because now it's a closeout and LOADED with people. Scenic beach though...

Got it head high+ - Surfer it just one day, had both a SW & West hitting it. The dual swell made fun shifting peaks. The wave had a good steep takeoff with a very makeable lined up face. Down the line surfing for sure. Sand beach leading to a rocky point, at head high+, the wave broke fairly close to the rocks, beginners won’t like it. The vibe was not too bad, I spent some time B.S.ing with the locals, be cool and nobody will mess with you. After 3 hours I was spent, lots of waves in a short time.

La Pastora - San Pedrito is a pretty fun wave but La Pastora is nicer on a NW swell with clean conditions. Just watch out for the gringo with a blond walrus stache who sits on the best peak where the wide ones come in. That guy will burn you every chance he gets.

Cobblestone Pointbreak - When I was surfing in the Todos area for 2 months in the Fall/Winter of 1998, and when I was in Baja Sur for 3 months in the Spring/Summer of 2000 (camping at Los Cerritos and Nine Palms), the best wave in that Todos Santos area was La Pastoral. It's north of Todos Santos about 10 minutes on a bumpy dirt road. Pat Curren (Tom Curren's dad) supposedly owns one of the nice houses on the point.

It's a hollow breaking right-hand wall, with a short hollow (shallow) inside tube that closes shut quickly. There really aren't any beginners and there are some Local Gringos that are dicks. But it is so uncrowded with so many waves it doesn't really matter, and if you surf good and respectful you will get your fill of waves wuth no hassles. You can camp in the parking lot, or camp close to it, just don't camp on somebody's land.

The break is like an advanced Trestles with a shallow tube. At 2-4 foot it is a playful powerful cobblestone point break, at 6-12 foot-plus it looks like Hawaii. Perfect barrels, long walls, so clean in the morning but once the wind gets up, it's time for Los Cerritos. There is a lot of sea life out there with whales coming with in 20 feet of you.

Oh yeah, backwash is funny there and the tides make huge differences, but when it is on, it is a lot better of a spot than Pedritos or Cerritos. It is out of the way and has a really soulful vibe to it, and wasn't to known back in 1998. It might be different now.

SAN PEDRITO - i just returned from surfing baja sur. san pedrito point is still a great wave. caught is 8ft and pretty good form. quit f'in complaining and just surf.

oh yea..bring booties cause the urchins are rough.

Rusty and family - Your options are limited. Remember that there are less than a handfull of surfable spots during the winter season. You may be able to find a place to camp but it most likely will not have decent shaped surf out front. Five years ago, it was different, not to mention ten years ago. With the growth of the global surfing nation and the development limiting access, Southern Baja has lost most of its rural charm. Good luck

Pedrito closed - The trailer park is closed and the land has been sold for private development. No showers or restaurant.

San Perdrito camp - It's been 5 years since we surfed San Pedrito. Is the RV still open? Is there still camping on the beach? How about hot showers? Any current info is greatly appreciated.
