there on honeymoon - Great wave, fun yet powerful it did have a tendency to close-out sometimes on the wrong tide. Good vibe except some of the locals who were total wave-hogs and dished out much stink-eye aside from taking off on everything that moved whether in position or not. You can catch it with small crowds though.

King Ripper has his day... AGAIN!!! - Famous lounger Greg Abell sited ripping The Rock! KR had had enough of motocross, golf, and just plain ol' sleeping. So he loaded up his better half and went to the tip. Upon last reports his was said to be first in the water, and last to leave, day in and day out. This trip was during the fat south swell that hit the third week in Sept, 05'. When not stuffing himself with fish tacos and swilling as much ice cold beer as possible, KR was said to be screaming "NO FREEBASE CUTBACKS!!!" at any and all who dared paddle within spraying distance. The wave itself is a beautiful rock reef set up that starts to turn on around 3 feet. It can be ridden on the right direction up to about a solid 8 foot. The take off on larger swells is out passed a large rock that sticks up out of the water on low tide. Great fun wave. Easy to surf. The kids usually surf "Zippers" and the old men usually surf well... "old mans" so that leaves "The Rock" for you and me. Unless King Ripper happens to be in town. His "eyewash" is brutal!

wave be there, you be here - I just had the pleasure of getting advise from some absolute kook on where to position. At first, I sat there in disbelief thinking that I did not hear what I thought I head but upon asking him to repeat, it was. I then advised him to surf somewhere else if he didnt like where I positioned. He became very quiet. Kooks should stay very quiet and be happy with scraps.
