Oregon/California - I grew up surfing in NJ all year long in 33 degree water in the winter..then i moved to cali in the bay are for 2 years..then i moved to oregon for 3 years...ive surfed every good spot from Seaside OR to Point Loma in San Diego now im back in the bay are...let me clarify that Seaside (the cove) in Oregon does have its good days..but mostly its an onshore victory at sea..NW winds never stop...and furthermore the town of seaside is absolutely horrible...bunch of rednecks...so all in all sure seaside does go off and im sure its epic..but really its tucked the fuck all the way up in some redneck town...Steamer Lane gets surfable waves pretty often...and the vibe is surfing man...there are skaters everywhere...good food..and beautiful mountains, redwoods, and palm trees....i mean cmon lets get real....its like the retards who claim Portland is a better city than San francisco...

Seaside surfers at Santa Cruz - Dude not all of the guys up at Seaside are dicks. Just the jerk crew. We also get crap from them and we live in Seaside and surf Seaside everyday. Those guys even go after highschool kids throwing them off their boards, dunking them, pulling leashes, and intimidating them. So cut the guys who show respect a break and don't freak out on all Oregon surfers at The Lane.

Surf SC! - Hey, do you want perfect waves, friendly locals, and nonstop fun? Surf Santa Cruz. Every day of the year is amazing. It's especially good for people who don't know how to surf and Euro's. Remember, the ocean is global, so head to Santa Cruz!

Shut up Oregon - F@#k Man! I live and surf in Oregon and I'm sick of looking at other spots only find out some loser with a big effing mouth is talking about Seaside. Shut up! And ripping on Cali surfers? Dude our waves may be empty and good, but Cali has some ripping surfers and rad waves. Show some respect.

Steamer Lane...Mushy? - I was just there maybe a week ago and it was not mushy at all, but fairly hollow and lining up like you would expect that place too. Oregon is good too, but don't rip on Cali when it is really good but packed like a street corner at Home Depot! There is a blog on these places too... westcoastsurfspots.blogspot.com/ The west side is sick!!!!

steamer lane, steamer lame - crowded, mushy waves.....decent on a large swell....but again, crowded. if you want real surf go to SEASIDE POINT IN SEASIDE, OREGON........CHECK IT OUT HERE (OREGON NORTH) and do not miss the video of the place going off during a 'small swell' later cali kooks.

the lane rocks! - Grew up surfing the lane, its killer watching kooks getting stuffed at the slot!Does anyone know if the mushroom tree is still in the field, we would take acid and stay up there all night then shred at first light!

Ocean Beach is heavier - Ocean Beach is a way bigger and heavier wave. If you are a steamer lane local and dont agree explain.

The Truth About Steamer Lame - Yes the waves are good here, unfortunately the guys who surf here are not. They will heckle, babble, and vibe, so very, very sad. I'm from So Cal, and we have way better surf, surfers, and warmer water/weather than Nor Cal ever will, and namely " Steamer Lame".
