 Información adicional

Parking is an issue as it's surrounded by condos.
Best to park in front of catholic church 4 blks away and walk to public acess by Points of America (15 min walk)

The setup: dredged rocks from inlet being cut through
reef lines. Runs straight out from beach and gets
very shallow at low tide. A swell will wrap back on
itself making a wedge about 3 times swell size.
Peaks are very very shifty, mid-tide current is
strong from water leaving inlet. Rarely breaks and rarer good and clean. Good about once every 5-10 years.
Worth checking after a hurricane when winds are offshore.

Ambiente

Grew up 1/2 a mile from this break. Classic twice in 12 years, rode it about 20-30 times.
Jet skiers love the place and really screw up the lineup anymore. Breaks very far off the beach and the as the wave pulls up all the rocks roll along the bottom making a weird noise. If you make the wedgy drop which is steep and fast you have lots of speed to run out on the shoulder but it hits deep water quickly so lots of cutbacks are needed.

General

Super fun when on, dangerous to the novice as it's shallow, boats routinely run through the lineup during lulls and strong current on mid tide.

Plus side is it's an easy paddle out in the deep water next to it.

- the sandbars get good for a few years and then get bad, they recently came out of a bad couple years and the past 2 hav been good, the past 2 hav also been the most crowded, the jetty is actually breaking pretty decent nowadays, and the next epic spoils day is coming soon cause i havent seen it break like its supposed to in years(shifty grinding a-frames) the kid on the bike is the only one left in the neighborhood so he's been holding the fort down for all the older neighborhood kids who moved away

The local kid? - YO! There is a local teen kid who rides his bike up to check this spot and then goes home to walk back w/his board and must be the only real local w/in walking distance that I have seen here consistantly. I've asked the kid if his parents might let me park at his house as I'm a traveling marketing geek who works from port ev. from time to time and just wants to surf after work, but the 9 parking spaces are tow zone after 7pm. Which aint bad cause it mainly breaks when its winter and dark before 7pm anyway. But that seemed to weird the kid out, which I guess I can't blame him w/all the freaks these days, kind of a shame a guy w/a wife and kids who just wants a parking space for a surf, ends up freaking out a poor kid just by asking to park at his house. The last post is right though. It does break better than other spots in S.Fl. but less consistent. But that kid is lovin it. Cause the spot has a sheltered cove from even the hardest NE on the inside of the jetty w/it's left point, then some protection from SE wind on the N-side of that little jetty shore pound, plus the spoils for epic offshore ground swell. It's a point, a reef and a shore pound, w/wind protection from NE and SE. A perfect Fla surf spot. Only that kid knows how often it works these days and he's been cool since I never mention the parking thing again and he marveled at how someone who surfs consistant Central Fla spots alot, can rip that inside cove left apart. It really has a perfect left wall or carving vertical hacks once you pass the inside breakwall section paralleling the shore and the wave wraps into itself. You know if you set your ride up right your going vertical 2 or three times when the wave rounds that corner. As you can tell w/the limited parking and inconsistency, I have lost my fear of posting about the spot now, hell, I just miss this place having not worked near the port this year and w/gas so expensive for a day trip to it's been out of my reach w/family resposibilty in Cent. Fl.So please somebody who surfs hear post about the sand bar condition and the recent swells. I can't see how the spot will get crowded.

TRue Local - I never post on web boards but couldn't resist here. Spoils is surreal when it's on and it has been on more than the other posts may suggest. I know because I grew up a stones throw away...on barbara drive. I walked that beach every day and watched in awe before I ever surfed as a yougster. I wish I had pics to share but my narration will have to do. I have seen this spot hold 15'+ A-Frames, HUGE BARRELS, other sights include enormous frieghters, aircraft carriers, nuclear subs, cruise ships, and no crowd. Only my bros and I who were stoaked enough to charge this spot 1/2 mile offshore would be out. Most memorable dates/events include: Hugo, Halloween(Perfect Storm)Swell '91, Andrew, Gorden, and several fridged Christmas days in the late 80's/early 90's.There also used to be two unreal shorebreaks here. The Jetty[north or beach side] and Lago Mar. I mean unreal shorebreak for South Fla standards. This only lasted 2 or 3 years:'95-'98ish. The bars just shifted and it was like a tap bieng turned off. Have checked these spots over the years since but found nothing?Last note, my bro Greg and I caught Francis after a paddle accross the intracoastal @ Sunrise Blvd and chased by police into the water. Beach evac no one out but us, overhead surf, and a police escort from sunrise to yankee clipper where we got out and went to the house where I grew up!No B.S.>Really!
