Itauna - I am a gringo living in Itauna for the past six months. When its on here it is the real deal!! lots of juice,and long lefts. the locals here know this wave inside and out,be cool and they will hook you up!! Muito Tranquilo.

Itauna Beach, Saquarema - Itauna beach: beautiful chilled out relaxed place - great break from Rio if all the traffic is driving you nuts and you need a time out! Pousada Espuma is the place to go-Fatima and her family are wonderful, food is excellent, good rates, spotlessly clean place and not busy this time of year so you don´t have to deal with a million and one traveller questions/interrogations!! Lovely back garden-gate leads u straight onto beach. Ignore lonely planet- Itauna Inn smells of mould and is drab!!

- Magic place, magic waves. Near Vila we have others good spots, conecting Maricá to Saquarema. Search for Jaconé and Ponta Negra.

great place! - great place to visit and surf. good lefts at "vila", when it works. other great spots, near saquarema: montinho, roberto marinho, chauí and ponta negra.

Tips for Itauna surfing trip - The itauna inn is not as nice as seen on web page.
The beaches are nice but a bit dirty.
Waves are great in June. Water temp to surf with no wetsuit.
Very consistent spot.
Good people but beware with locals in water.
There is a main peak with more than 40 surfers on weekends.
Nothing else to do after surfing.
When no waves or wind wrong there is no near alternative to check. (Cabo Frio and Arraial 90-120 min by bus).
Safe place.
Good place to stay is Pousada Espuma Da Praia. Same price (40 dolars per da for 3 people with great bfast) , good rooms, swimming pool, games room, in front of the peak, good people Fatima and husband.
Sun rise at 6 sunset at 5.30, surf early.
Is a 4 star wave! Enjoy it!

A Melhor e mais consistente onda do Brasil! - Iatúna com certeza é a melhor onda do Brasil!
Com Swell de sudeste/Leste, as esquerdas funcionam...as ondas quebram na laje indo em direção ao casarão.
Ja no Swell de Sul/ Sudoeste, as direitas quebram para dentro do canal com muita força e bem tubulares no inside...
Enfim...existem muitos outros picos em Saquá, tais como ; Backdoor , Vila , Prainha, Boqueirão , Lajão, Pedrinha....etc...etc...

Itauna blues - It's been almost 25 years since I caught a fantastic 15 feet swell there, the place was a dream there only was 1 bar and a whore house there! Surfed all over Brasil and Itauna I just can't get you out of my mind!

Saquarema surf dream - It´s a beautiful place and the wawes are great! There´s a lot of energy in and out of the water and the sunsets turn the whole sky in a visual fire!
Not a sophisticated place. Some cold water specially in the hot summer. The midle beach spots are easier.

wuyz up saqua? - yeah..i was born inthe place brakes also waves..and has very talent surfers and shapers like surffer Raoni montero and shaper leandro santos wich is also known here in the us big friend of my make magic surfboards!!
