caves ?! - as a local I'm a bit surprised when some guys talk about caves sucking surfers I've heard of them they are pretty cool to find good fish for lunch but no more

i simply confirm - a phantastic but dangerous spot, never surf alone and take your stay at manapany as a cultural experience because we are not a touristic place at all and even less a meeting point of the surf community. about sharks: i m not really shure they are more frequent, bigger and more dangerous than elsewhere as long as you respect the basic rules to avoid troubled waters and critical times. i live in manapany les bains and keep a small touristic structure and i can assure not having met problems with surfers knowing their responsabilities and limits. just drop me a message in case you need more information. peter (57) unfortunately getting too old to surf this spot!

- reefs are fine here. they sucked dry but were not clouted by any big waves. manapany is a very cool place. Don't go alone in the water because there are underwater caves here and well known breeding ground for huge hungry sharks. Beware.

- anyone know how the reefs are after the tsunami? All breaks unaffected, or what?

manapany : great but dangerous - the southest spot of the island but a real pleasure, mostly when it's big.Join the spot is not difficult but enter it is harder. In fact there are many rocks (not a bit of sand)and I let you imagine when you have to exit it and when swell is present. Some recommandations: rocks wich are in front of the peak are very sharps and the wave comes very fastly in them so before your take off, take a look of your position. The other danger is shark so NEVER surf alone or when water is not clear because they are not little ones and a bit frequent...

A charming place. - Manapany is a charming place located in the south of Reunion Island. The coast is rocky. As a matter of fact, there is a cliff who hide the spot (40 m). The environnent is also fragile. A small lizard live in this place (Lizard of Manapany). So we have to respect the ecosystem. Concerning the spot, we can say that it's quite dangerous : enter in the water is difficult. But to leave the water is most. The waves can push you on the shingles (Manapany is a small shingle beach). When the wave is rided, you have to watch over the big rocks that are above the water (it's like icebergs). So it's better to surf this beautiful wave when it's the high water. Finally, I would like to say that all surfers can try these waves. But they must be respectful of the nature.P.S. : I hope that text is understood. Sorry if my english is pitiful coz' I'm a Reunionnan. Bye.
