English (Traducir este texto en Español): This wave is one of the most consistent and easiest to surf in the Mentawais. Always seem to have a wave, often with two peaks, one outside and one inside along the rock shelf. Sit on the inside to pick up some occasionally very good barrels along the shelf at 3-5 feet, or sit outside to pick up some peaky sets from 4-8 feet.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Nipussi is a good perfomance wave that changes character with swell size and direction. I found it best at 3-6 feet, a high tide and a south swell, with wedgy barrels on the inside, and peaks out the back. But you can surf it on any tide or swell. At size it can get powerful, just like anywhere else, but doesn't handle over about 8 feet. Watch the obvious rock pen at the very end of the wave on big days. A softer alternative on most days, it does therefore get crowded, but you should be able to get a peak somewhere.
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): It's a changeable wave, you can get barrelled on some days, on others just slash a wall: its a wave with versatility.

why do this? - Why would Rip Curl hold an international surf contest at a semi-private spot in Mexico? Is Nipussi a secret spot? Is there no other info on the internet with regards to Nipussi? Have the boat charters and land camps promoted it at all? Will surfers make the trek to the Mentawais just for a taste of Nipussi? Does Roger have anything to gain by giving us his comprehensive take on Nipussi? I will be there next week. If he is there, I will ask him.

fun wave - one of the funnest waves in the area. nice wackable wall that lines up perfect, and some times a little barrel on the inside. Always has a wave, when every else is flat go here. Only trouble is that it is one of the only spots to surf when it is small, so can get crowded and only has one real take of spot. so take turns and line up.
