Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Good right hand barrel. Its ideal to go here in the off season as it pretty much faces East. Its rarely crowded and there are no locals. You'll surf this place alone. The paddle out is super easy. Getting in is fine, but trickier at lowtide however you can paddle all the way around to a protected bay.
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Good right hand barrel but you need almost no wind (and there is quite always some even during the morning from May to october).

Andy is gone - Just want to drop a quick reply about South Sumatra... there has already been a lot of info given and most of it is true, but to keep everyone up to speed... Andy the Yank is gone, gone, gone. Karang Nyimbor Hotel now has a new owner and agent, As those that have already stay there know, it is one of the best places to stay on Unjung Bocur Point. Check it out
www.southsumatrasurf.com
and send an email if you want anymore info. it is a great wave and there are other waves around if it feels too big... it is a beautiful part of the world with friendly locals; well worth a look!

Thanks Ullam - Jennys, jimmys, Drews...naming waves after people is lame, especially if there bule...the only true names are the ones given by the local people.

You are all wrong - Jenny's? Drew's? Ha! The correct word for the spot is Lunak Kunyit, a reference to the abundance of tamarind growing in the area. I am not sure who was FIRST to surf it, but when I first rode it (in '85), a local named Bulan told me some white men had been there the year before. My family lives nearby and I surf when I am visiting from Bali. It's fun wave, nothing spectacular or worth traveling very far for. Way better waves to be had if you have a boat!
