Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): just rocked in one day, moderate to strong south-easterly blowing. Maybe some 2 footers breaking on the open-exposed beach around the corner. The wave wrapped around the headland and made a clean, fun, really perfect-looking right on an underwater cement slab.
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Not sure how often it breaks, but i reckon in a cyclone, there might be a few fun ones. Not sure if i'd paddle out on my regular board as there are a lot of crocs about and dont really want to be dangling over the edge in the murky water.

Port Douglas - As a resident of Palm Cove and living 40 min from Port Douglas I would definetly say this is not going to be a surf mecca.
There is hardly any waves if ever unless like the previous poster said we have a cyclone watch.
Probably good for beginner's but by that I mean "real" beginners.

just a bit of fun - The wannasurf database automatically placed pt douglas in the far nth west, when obviously (by the google earth prompt) it is on the east coast. As g=far as it being a secret or becoming a surf mecca, the spot is located in the centre of town, and i would think it would rarely be over a foot. While it isnt 8ft tahiti, it is a bit of fun and something people might be interested having a look at.

what? - no offense guys but what are you talking about? i just recently moved up here thinking i was gonna have 2 give up bodyboarding but quite alot its been winds to 20-30 knots, so iv been down there afew times and its been great! well over a ft and i'v defintly been having lots of fun. iv seen surfers ride waves half that big and having great fun at famous australian surf places like the goldcoast. so it was far bigger than i expected.
