mate of marquews - hey. darryls the name but surfings the game. been hacking jan juc for at least 30 odd years - honest. jan juc (the name) was thought to be of Aboriginal origin to which several meanings have been ascribed: milk, goose, or ironbark. bbut don't know what the fuck that has to do with 6ft glassy pits on a frehs summer morning yip yewww. on a more serious note i smoked a doob with marquew in his cave just near bells southside and then we scored some epic 8ft sets at jan juc later that arvo. it usually doesn't hold sets tha tbig but it was just rippin' that day ewwp. seeya soon!

General Tomfoolery - I must also agree with Darryl below me. In the mid-late 1980's, there were various storm swells that tracked through the southern ocean hitting the vicco coastline head on. The mystery of Marquew (told below me) is still in contention. Some say he was washed into a cave near Bells Beach after that 17ft swell washed through during the latter part of 1984, others say he fled to mexico with his urban wife Juanita. There have been various rumours through the Barwon Region to say that the slight smell of herbs comes from some of the bells caves which is actually Marquew smoking doobs whilst feasting on washed-up marine life and bats that live deep in the cave. However, i'd like to think (i tell my kids this too) that he made it down the face of the 2nd wave on that 17ft horror set and went home that night to a nice warm-cooked meal and a cold beer. cheers and beers. ~ LESTER
