 Información adicional

Meritzo consists of two breaks. There is a right on the right side of the boat channel that has a slow rolling shoulder that sometimes connects to another section inside. This spot gets better with size, and can hold large waves due to the width and depth of the channel. Across the channel, and considerably farther from the shore, is a lesser surfed left. The left is hollower and faster than the right but is also shorter and ends up on shallow reef. The left can also hold size but has strong currents pushing down the reefline during big swells.

Ambiente

This spot is a long drive and paddle, but is very picturesque and usually uncrowded, especially the left. It requires a large swell to break well, so don't count on it being good.

General

Meritzo is probably the best surf experience on Guam when it's on.

To the Dingas - If you're Ed and Joe Flores, how are you dingas? You should take some time off and visit the homeland. Guam will not be the same within the next 5 years as the U.S. Marines are planning on relocating their Okinawa bases here. There will be 8,000 marines along with an expected 10,000 dependents. Do the math and you'll know that the place will never be the same and, unfortunately, the problems that Okinawa had with the Marines will carry over here on our tiny dot of a homeland. So my advice to you is, within the next 5 years, take some time off and take a good look before hell takes over. Shoots boys!
