Just a short drive west from Pago Pago. A couple miles past the harbor entrance. You cannot miss Fatuuli as it is a big, black, barren rock just offshore from Utulaina Point. You can park on the point itself and then pick your way down the rocks lining the shore. When small you can paddle straight out but when it is BIG you must paddle out through the channel to the east (there is a strong rip current which will pull you into the channel anyways). Whatever you do you do not want to get caught inside by a set here when it is big!

Información adicional
Fatuuli (Samoan for Black Rock) is mainly a righthander that has been compared to Backdoor Pipeline! Up to head high a very fun wave but anything over that and it starts to show its true heavy potential. When big and lined up an extremely hollow and powerful wave. This place snaps boards and leashes with impunity. I once saw 3 boards snapped in one day with only 4 people out. It can hold pretty good size waves but they must be well lined up because otherwise it tends to section like crazy. When this happens you do have time to straighten out but the white water will bounce you off your board and drag you over the reef, so choose your waves carefully.
Best on a solid south-southeast ground swell and either north winds (offshore) or no wind at all. Easily blown out by southeast Trades.
There are two distinct take-off spots when it is big. One on the outside corner and one closer to the rock itself. Line up about a 100 yards or so off the rock. When small you can safely chase down inside waves but watch out for sneaker sets.

Ambiente
On a big well-lined up swell it turns into a long wall throwing from top to bottom. If you have the balls to pull into one of these monsters you will go faster and get deeper than you ever have and probably ever will in your life! On the other hand if you get thrashed you will be lucky to survive. There is also a nice bowl at the end of the ride as the wave wraps around the reef. Whatever you do you do not want to get caught inside by a clean-up set here!
