Eleuthera - Responding to the last comment... If you're staying near Surfer's Beach, you can go to a bar called Elvina's at night. Not much else than that for going out. Or, you can just buy a few beers and hang out at your hotel... more relaxing. As for renting a dune buggy... If someone has one, chances are they'll rent it to you... I have never seen one there, though. Instead, you can show up to the airport and rent someone's car. No forms to fill out, no credit cards, no insurance... just 60-80 dollars a day cash, and you drive it away. Hope you catch waves. Have fun. Check out how big the waves were this past March by going to youtube and searching for Eleuthera and Waves... hug bombs that were unsurfable.

Island Hoppers - Did anybody catch the Island Hoppers Eluthura episode with Lance O? Well I did and that surfers beach looks really fun. Choppy or not uncrowded beautifull warm water waves. I'll be going in November with my lady, looks like we'll stay at surfers manor. I have 2 questions I hope somebody can help me with. Where can i rent a bad ass dune buggy like the one i saw on the show. And is there anything to do at night, Bars?

My Surfers Beach Experiences - The first time I went to Surfers Beach was in 1983, and stayed for 2 months. The surf was epic every day and if I can remeber correctly there was only 3 or so days we did't surf. The next time I went back was in 86 for 8 days another epic trip, got blown out on the last day, but we were leaving anyway.. Then in 88 I went for a 45 day jaunt... How F..K..g miserable in 45 days we surfed ONE day at waist high. The rest was either completely flat or onshore at 30kts. No in between..... Now I'm living back in central Florida again and considering a trip back, but I'm very leary!!!! Just my two cents.... Been going to mainland Mex for the last few years. Easy, Cheap, and until recently very uncrowded...

great left break but closes out right and becareful at low tide - I've surfed this break many times and only skunked out once beause of no waves.Try Surfers Beach Manor for food and drink, Mr Walks will take good care of you. The food is good and reasonably priced. He also has clean rooms with a/c.A word of caution, at low tide you will want to be warry about goin right as the reef is almost exposed and can leave quite an impression on you. There are boards available for rent in Gregory town from surfer Pete.go to the islands mon and have fun but please be kind and only leave your footprints behind in the sand.

Bahamas Surf - It can be hard to find the surf in the Bahamas. This is a paradise for savy, last minute, mobile surfers. Or you can spend the whole winter out there you'll find epic surf with zero crowds (I have for several winters). If dry reefs, rocks or "big" sharks bother you, don't go.Rum Cay and Cat Island - look at a map!!

attn: Julie - if you go in june, the only way you'll score medium-big waves is if a hurricane hits, which could turn your trip into a disaster. otherwise, the chances of a big north atlantic storm are pretty slim. the waves will be small, maybe waist high if you're lucky. the bottom is reef covered w/ sand. it is possible to hurt yourself but not likely. otherwise, the fishing on eleuthera is world class, most vacation rentals have spears and snorkeling gear. hope that helps.

Not worth it - I agree, just got back from a trip down there and everyone who said it is not consitent and not really a surf spot is exactly right. Don't waste your time - you will be disappointed if you travel to this island.
