English (Traducir este texto en Español): A ten minute walk down the beach from Hotel Iquanazul, this break can get really fun. During higher tides, there are many peaks that offer hollow, fast rights and lefts- the waves jack up off the sand bar very quickly creating a tough, but exciting, drop in. It breaks very close to shore in shallow water over a sandy bottom.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): if you have been to costa rica you might have found your self very deserted or found yourself in some of the touristy crowded areas. junquillal is a pretty remote area and on some days you might see two or three people on the beach and no one in the water. beware when your walking out, there are sting rays. a sting can ruin a day of surf pretty easy. if traveling through dont miss this spot.

Wedges - This wave is a spitting, thick, A-frame beast. Fast both left and right. Hit this spot when Negra is good cause it's gonna be less crowded and just as fun.

classic - was in costa rica for 11weeks this past summer and junquilla was by far the best waves we found. we stayed here for the last 3-4weeks of our stay and had numerous classic sessions. im a sponger and there are alot of close outs but ideal for my wave riding board of choice. early mornings and evenings are best due to the winds. low tide is needed for the bowl section out in fornt of the ranch (semi-secret) can get crazy good and busy. high tide down the south side of the beach can get epic as well with fat tubes to be had in front of hotel junquillal. my personal favorite was low tide south side of the beach in front of the hotel junq is crazy!! huge low tide close out monsters but you get the view of your life and the pounding of it also!! bring a camera and a friend with some balls to swim out and get sick pics of you and your friends in the blue room heaven. awsome place for launching high and going big.

Uncrowded? - You guys must be surfing it on low tide.
..... AND STOP WITH ALL OF THE TIPS!
I know a few guys who get big knots in their panties when talking about this place.
