English (Traducir este texto en Español): this spot is excellent, it is a long ride and there is absolutely no crowds. We camped out there for 5 days with mangos and rice, only one day came two locals and surfed it, rest of the time we had it by ourselves.

growing pains - If you find yourself in this area looking for waves and the crew from Las Palmeras also happens to be at the same spot you will NOT be allowed to surf. We were told flat out that that we couldn't get in the water at Conejo one day when the Palmeras entourage (which included photogs, traveling pros, and paying customers)was there. This surf zone/culture has been experiencing serious growing pains as it blows up in the surf media and the locals try to best position themselves as the inevitable tide of traveling surfers floods into the region. Most recently this is evidenced by Cesar Ramirez's rant about the article published in surfing mag last November:
http://espn.go.com/action/surfing/story/_/id/7039333/surfing-magazine-article-forces-locals-unite-make-stand
Anyway, be prepared to get seriously hassled if you take it upon yourself to explore this area without a guide. That being said, perseverance and treading lightly will pay off.

great place - here are some tips about Salina Cruz - epic points. mostly sand bottom. really fun point waves when they are not blown to shit. this entire stretch of coast has amazing sand bottom point waves. how do you think all that sand gets in the lineup? Wind. lots of winds. I was here for 8 days in may 2011 it was windy everyday. if not howling offshore then it was sideshore from one direction or another. if you go to salina cruz during June - Sept. you will get waves for sure but be prepaired to search for waves. its not like all the points work on the same wind so sometimes you have to drive for a couple hours to find a point that is working with the wind. ALso I have talked to many people and they all said that SURFFINDERS company is a total scam and just stay away form SURFFINDERS, I went to Las Palmeras surf resort and they were super cool, easy going, great food and really friendly staff. they will drive you to hell and back looking for waves. they took us all over the place and we got to see little towns and villages that where amazing (while looking for waves) a few times we ran into the wavehunters crew and their guides always vibed us like we were cramping their style. Overall get ready for warm water, really rippable waves but be ready for wind and doing some searching. when the waves are flat at the point go to the beach break that you see all the photos of (the perfect a-frame peaks) with howling offshores. this is a pretty shorebreaky wave but is fun cause this area picks up heaps of swell, pretty board snapping area for sure. Kinda Puerto-esque (this wave reminded me of good south side seal beach). Make sure to book with Las Palmeras. Great guys.

Beware Surfinders - I booked a trip to Salina Cruz with Surfinders Surf Travel in April 2011 (Carlos Iran Bohorquez). I was offered a discount & (stupidly) paid for two week stay upfront. Upon arrival I was left extremely disapppointed, as I was not collected from the airport as promised, all contact numbers provided were useless. Apparantly I wasn't the first person who had experienced this trauma! After 5 days I received an e-mail from the company advising that they would provide a refund, but 2 months later I'm still waiting! I just want to warn others not to use this company, so that they do not suffer the same fate as I did.
