The Boom - Most people call the wave The Boom. Me and my wife stayed at a new higher end hotel/surf camp called Thunderbomb surf camp might say it was the best surf camp we ever stayed at. here are some pics www.facebook.com/thunderbombsurfcamp and the website www.thunderbombsurf.com

It IS good! - I disagree with this last guy bagging Joe's place. It sounds like he had a bad experience because he was expecting a place set up for tourists like San Juan del Sur.
The website's photos are accurate of how beautiful it is there and they say it's just opened to tourism so if you want to get drunk and go party, go somewhere else. If you want to really experience Nicaragua and get sick waves this is the place for you...and it's way cheaper.
I stayed there for 3 weeks and I was never bored- I surfed some awesome waves on the beaches most days and got tubed off my ass. Yes- you can get skunked here just like any other beachy, and no it doesn't close out over 6 feet, I've surfed triple over head perfect barrels but it depends if you're a pussy or not. The points hold any size and break on any tides and are definitely a class setup- I'm not sure what other points he's talking about in Nica, there aren't many and they aren't that good- maybe confusing it with El Salvador?
On the odd day when the surf was no good we went out and caught huge fish and hung out with some cool local people. Finally, if that guy had got off his ass, there is the Marina with a full restaurant on the water 2 min walk away that serves beer, Max's 5 min walk away (cheaper and cooler place) a woman who sells it round the corner and you can always do a beer run to town. These kinds of whiney "surf tourists" make me sick. Get off you lazy ass and stop expecting everything to be done for you!

Joes and Boom Huevos - This beach break is also called Boom
/Huevos. It gets really hollow and sick but the swell has to be small....anything over like 6 and the place gets all washed out and shitty. I was there this July and the beach was only good for one day when the swell was super small....then there was sick tubes to be had. It would be better to go here from like oct to mar when the swell is smaller, it is off shore and there is no wind.
Also, there is a point break. If you stay at Joe's the boat launch is right there and it takes 5 minutes to get there. It is a decent point but noithing compared to the better points in Nica.
As far as the town goes, there is NOTHING there andtons of mosquitos during the rainy/may-oct season. When I say nothing I mean nothing. There is one tienda and they dont even sell beer. Joe's place is OK but pretty basic. His wife cooks an fair dish and he is a nice guy but it might look a little nicer on his website than it actually is......also, no beer here either. Why do I keep mentioning beer? Cause there is nothing else to do at all!....Not really in a good way either.
