Popoyo - We are managing a hotel in front of the beach in Popoyo, look for us on facebook while we build the web page. Popoyo Hostel Nicaragua, beds from 10 usd rooms from 40 us. In front of the beach, 5 minutes walking from popoyo, the beach break at the door also works in the high tide! Ask for the taxi driver to take you at Casa Maur Hotel

surf conditions in november - Hey, finally we have decided to go to nicaragua in november rather than october... the rainy season should be at the end, and some swells should hit the Nica. We juste hope to surf more than 2 feets... Does anyone would like to share its experience about surf conditions in november? Positive testimony would make me more confident for a trip at this time of the year. We hope to visit some nicas barrels! Thanks in advance

surf conditions for october/november? - I am just planning a trip to nicaragua at fall, and i wonder about the surf conditions if we go there from Mid-october to Mid-november. I know this is the end of rainy season, and quite consistent there. But what about the wind? Do you think it is better to go earlier or later than our dates? Is there an area to prefer at this time of the year? Many thanks for any inputs.

Surf trip Nicaragua - Hi guys,
I just come back from a surf trip in Nicaragua. We've had really good waves and uncrowded.
We've been surfing to Colorado, Santana, Popoyo, astillero and some other spots up north where you can access only by boat.
We,ve stayed in a new place, an eco surf lodge, Las Plumerias, between Popoyo and astillero.
Emeline and Etienne, the owners are from France, really friendly, they tell you the best spot to go surfing and the food is awesome!!! You have to try the desert!!!
The place is amazing and my girlfriend really enjoyed it, chill out, enjoying the beach when I was surfing, you know that!!!
They organise, all inclusive surf trip, surf guide and surf school and only girls weeks. I really recommand that place for your next trip in Nicaragua.
Check the website, www.lasplumerias.com
Thanks a lot guys, for sure we'll be back
Keep surfing

Don't Stay at Casa Maur - Casa Maur is run by a stingy crew! Beds go for $10 a night (on the pricier side for Popoyo) and they pay the local cleaning ladies C50 (or $2.50) for a full days work of cleaning and laundry. Most hotels pay double that. They are known for charging gringos different prices than nicas. Stay at La Tica or La Bocana, $6 bucks a night, great service, and good food

Nicaragua Surf Guide - Local - Samir is a great local surfer who has knowledge of secret spots. He lives in Las Salinas, at the bridge. His cell number is 011-505-8674-2540

Popoyo - I surfed this spot when it was really firing...15 foot faces. It was amazing. One of the fastest, most vertical drop-ins I've ever surfed. Unfortunately, there's only one take off point so it's tough to get a lot of waves. Highly recommended when there's a solid swell...

Stay at Casa Maur. It's ten bucks a night but it's incredibly comfortable. The food is also amazing.

... - I was nice to elvis I let his brother borrow my board. I stayed at martinez for one month and it was good up until the last 10 days. Elvis' parents were nice to me when he stole my shit and gave me a few free meals. The problem was when I had something he wanted and was trying to sell because I was down to no money. I said I would sell it to him but he could never get any money so one day I sold it to a brazillian and he bascially turned on me after that.

His family were good people and had good cheap food but my room was next to their "hangout" area and they would bicker to eachother nonstop all day mostly just talking about money. In the time I was there I saw a spanish guy and another brazillian guy get in arguments with the guy there and leave. Thats just my take you can stay there but i'd rather pay another 2 bucks a night for a more peaceful place
