English (Traducir este texto en Español): The Webcam looks towards the other spot of the town. The spot just in front of the jetty on the NW of this beach has an awesome little peak I surfed in 2004 and have been yearning to get back to. Reminded me of Haleiwa's little section on the channel side on Oahu. But it was France, ahhhh. And it was great. Surfed my McCoy thruster 6'10" and it was just cool. Everyone else wanted the larger close-out waves that laid into Les Sables....not me.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Very crowded in summer, try to surf in the morning or evening, or just go to another spot.
Swell can be big and dangerous with steams that bring you to the rocks around the beach.

But Very good when a little wind and sunny.
Good waves in the morning, pacific glassy water and noone to bother you.

- always people here, especially because it is a good combination of the bay's cleaning effect on the swell with some (but less) power as it can be found on the exposed beaches... a good place to check however the surf area is not vast so priorities etc.... to keep a good atmosphere in water

what you should know about Tanchet... - Summer : Lifeguards => 2 areas : the swimming area and the surfing one. As a result, the spot gets ULTRA-CROWDED. Moreover the quality of the waves is poor!During the rest of the year : No lifeguard. The spot is less crowded. But you'll probably surf with people KAYAK-SURFING so don't forget to be careful and respectful !If it's too crowded then try the bay of Les Sables (Baie des Sables). It's a smaller wave but it can be funny !Hope you come to Vendee !

COWABUNGA - About Tanchet, sure it's over-crowed during summer time, but when it's low tide the surf channel is real large and you have good waves when it's going hi tide. But when swell's coming, waves are jsut wonderful, I prefer the left in front of the reef in low tide. Go and surf in the morning and evening during summer-time and then you have the whole beach for you (no lifeguards and no kayaks). When it's flat, the bay will also be flat, in that case give a try to Sauveterre or Bud Bud.
