sharks in med - My dad was born in Cyprus and was the family fisherman, he saw a few sharks in his time. remember whites like deeper water to attack, and u r never really gonna get huge surf in the med so its not gonna be too deep, can also see the buggers coming from far in that clear water, got a better chance of being brained by your board or some other dude dropping in.

sharks in the Med - I would not worry at all about sharks in the Med, it's probably one of the safest place to surf, although there are great white sharks, makos, blues, silkys, hammerheads and a couple of harmless sharks and the big but gentle basking shark. You have more chances getting hit by a car crossing the road to go surfing than being attack by a shark (in the Med that is !).

Med Sharks - Yeah sharks in the med is the absolute LEAST of your worries. I've been surfing, scuba diving & freediving all over this pond for 20 years and all i've ever seen was one terrified baby blue shark which swam like hell one it saw me approaching. Greek fishermen especially are known to batter, club, dynamite and spear anything which they come across which leaves the med a veritable desert. I've heard stories of Great Whites in the Adriatic, even seen a coupla pictures of smallish ones which were caught by Italian fishermen but I have never come across any fish here, shark or otherwise, which resembled a serious threat.
