sa surfer in den haag - when i came to holland from cape town i brought my board with. put it this way, days in cape town when it was messed up washing machine and i would not even consider surfing are what they call good days here, cos there is mostly only windswell.but, summer 2005 i had one or two great surfs. it was about 2 ft and clean running to the beach and i could wear boardshorts. i usually avoid the crowds, which is fine if there are no swimmers in, if there are u are not allowed to surf everywhere, only in designated spots which will be crowded. lots of people learning and so dont all know the rules so u will get dropped in on, but we all had to learn sometime.seen a couple of asshole locals who would be laughed at in cape town but think they are big men here swearing and cursing guys who are learning, but they really are in the minority and i think the vibe is good. on those two good days this summer the vibe was wonderful cos we all knew that this doesnt happen often.respect to my dutch surfer comrades, to learn to surf in holland u must really be dedicated cos u cant just go 4 times a week and be guaranteed a wave, u gotta do it piecewise so it aint easy to keep motivated, but the guys do it.

Scheef me ningen - Scheveningen (and the rest of Holland's breaks) can have really heavenly days. It is a matter of knowing how to be at the right place the right time. Check some pics at surfholland.nl. At the end of summer, water temps can get 20 degrees centigrade and if the sun shines some get in there with boardshorts...Water temps end winter are around 5 centigrade, get a 5.3 wetsuit and surf with some seals. BEst swell in winter...Beautiful days in summer are certainly possible. Talk with the local surfers on tips...
