- Localismo
English (Traducir este texto en Español): Like surfing in Holland and Belgium at any spot you should pick the right moment. There can be some nice waves you just have to know when. Real good days are probably only around the 3 to 5 a year. Don't go to Holland on a surf trip, sometimes there are weeks without waves, especially in the summer, it's just not worth spending your trip. If you want some real surf, go to France, Ireland, Spain, the Canary Islands. There is some of Europe's finest surf and in the winter it gets big.

Wijkiki aan Zee - Being a local, I have surfed there for a while. Mostly you should surf there with hightide and swell direction/wind direction coming from the North. You have some nice places to relax and chill, like Aloha and Timboektoe. There is no such kind of localism at all. Everybody is really kind and generous with oneanother. During the weekend it can be really crowded. My advice is just to walk a little futher into the mellow. However Wijk aan Zee has its disadvantages: You have to cover a huge distance when walking to sea (approximently 1500 meters) and when swell is generated from the south/southwest, there will be no swell at all, because the pier screws up all the waves. Nevertheless there is one gigantic benefit: The currency is minimalized by the pier! Parking is never a problem, although it can be a long stroll to the beach. There is also a surfschool open from May till September and a place where you can rent boards and wetsuits. More questions feel free sending me an email: mikeymikey112@hotmail.com
