nearly this spot - Nearly this spot toward north (Santa Pola - Alicante)on national road there is another place (little town called Guardamar del Segura). On period 24-36 hours after intense east wind was blown you usually can find waves about 1.5 meters.
You must park your car inside port (only 1 euro per day except in summer) and enjoy without doubt a good surfing session.
Avoid to park on the other side of Segura river, something could be stolen of your car!!
Local people (spaniards)are usually friendly if you start a conversation with him. They are quite shy and have low level english, but aren´t agressive

nearly got busted - i just came back from Torrevieja and nearly got arrested for surfing there. Anyway they have a flag system at the beach and if the flag is red (means there are waves) your not aloud to go into the water. i know this system from all over the world but usually as soon as you have a surfboard with you no one cares about the flag. so i paddled out, there is to mention that it hasn't been dangerous at all the waves were maybe 3ft. top. after surfing for like 10 min the lifeguard must have spottet me and started to blow his whistle like an idiot. spanish people also have an instinct to gather together if there is something unusual happening. so there were around 300 people standing at the beach watching me surf. i thought thats a bit too much attention but hey everyone loves to be famous for 15 minutes:-)the waves were so crapy that i decided to paddle out after a few more minutes. suprise surprise there were 3 police men waiting for me. as i was out of the water they started shouting at me and asked me if i didnt see that there are waves!!! i answered that that is kinda the point of surfing what they didnt seem to understand. i also couldnt get the smile of my face which didnt help to clear the situation:-) anyway at the end they let me off with me promising that i wont surf anymore if there are waves;-)so dont take your surfboard to Torrevieja
