- yep i too have been surfing this reef breaks for 15 years and yep it is very fickle ,often being flat or shite when all the "normal" signs and weather info suggest it should be huge or going off ! truth is most of the best sessions i,ve had there have been fluke by just checking the spot on the off chance on a morning after a huge storm when the sky is blue , the air is still and the chocolate barrels are grinding across the shallow kelp covered reef--this particular reef works for an hour either side of low tide, the lower the better and wont break on a higher tide-sou,westerly wind-- its a fat wedging peak which sucks up over a boil rock, grinds down the reef ,often throwing chunky barrels over nearly exposed kelp covered reef , it can drop down into another section and another depending on tide and swell direction ,its very makeable if you can handle the drop and iv,e surfed and seen it breaking at 6-8ft ,double over head !" shit scary" big rips etc... iv,e surfed all over the world and feel fucking lucky to have a right hand reef break of this quality on my door step , which i can enjoy with my mates in peace ! even if thats only once or twice a year.... boneyard ? never heard it called that before - u score this place even on an average day and it will be anything but " crap and cold " well maybe cold ?

m - been surfing here for a long time,we have a really good surf scene, very friendly. There are lots of good spots around exmouth, most of them are a litle east of the Town. This place does not really exist, but nearby are some very good reefs and beaches, you would not call them world class but on their day they are alot of fun.9 times out of 10 you will surf on your own or with just a few others. All you have to do is work out which conditions are best,I would tell you but it's more fun finding out for yourself.
