English (Traducir este texto en Español): Get a great big long board or a foamy board and get in the river early. The wave breaks off either bank depending on the curve of the river and can be a left or right, gutless or hollow. The wave moves up the river pretty fast. Watch out for trees and bushes overhanging the river near the banks. Also keep an eye out for debris being swept up the river by the wave. This has included barrels, logs, sheep.

The size of the wave is dependent on loads of factors. Spring tides give the biggest bores, while neap tide bores will barely be noticeable. Rainfall, wind and pressure also affect the height. The biggest bores may be up to 6ft, but 2-3ft is most common.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): This spot gets 5 Stars because it is nearly unique. Although the oportunity for maneouvres and barrels is very limited the name of the game is distance. Potentially you could get a ride of more than 33 km!

The current record is 5.7 miles and took 35 minutes.

- It was indeed highly debated...by someone who visited the river and fancied a crack at the record themselves. I never heard anybody else "debating" it. He did it, and it was authenticated until somebody who wasn't even there unauthenticated it...and as they were part of the bsa, guiness took their word for it.

Record rides - i heard the record was rejected by guiness because the actual distance surfed was highly debateable and there was no objective evidence for the actual start and end points. no one ever layed claim to a ride of 7.6 miles that was just a *mysterious* and false press release that appeared in all the papers and on the web - apparantly issued by the bsa. try about 6 miles...the official world record for a standing surfboard ride is by sergio laus on the araguari at 10.1km. he also holds the record for the largest tidal bore ever surfed at 4m on the same river in brazil. don't believe everything you read or hear!still get out there and maybe you will be the one to get a new world record on the severn bore... it is there for the taking.
