English (Traducir este texto en Español): This spot is named The Juice for Justin Avery, an 18 year old sponge head that was tragically hit by a car and killed. He was an aspiring jazz musician, rock climber, and sponge boarder. This was his favourite spot.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): This spot can have some epic days. When the swell is right, the rivermouth really jacks up creating a really fast and fun wave. The rides aren't super long unless it gets really big. If the rip at the river mouth is too heavy you can move over and play in the beach break. The place is always empty. I've surfed here for years and never seen another standup surfer. Occasionally there are a couple of kids, on a really hot day in august, that play on sponges in the shore pound. The local fishermen will come down on their 4 wheelers to check you out.
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): The Juice is a great spot if you are in the neighbourhood. It also is a launching pad for other spots if you are adventurous and don't mind walking a little with your board. The downside is that it is 3 1/2 hrs from Halifax, so you definitely want to make it a weekend trip.

To EastsidA - Yeah, Justin Avery (aka Juicey or Juice), the guy that died was my brother-in-law. He was a cool kid and I introduced him to sailing, backpacking, rock climbing, and boogie boarding. He bought a nice Hobie sponge and was starting to get really stoked. I was going to get him into stand up surfing but he was hit by a car and killed on New Years 2004. The juice was his favourite spot and is named after him. There are a couple of good spots down there. Not as good as Halifax but fun just the same. There is one point that has a long left about 1/4 mile from the juice that I think is outstanding on a good day. If you go down you just have to explore. It's like a throw-back surfari thing from another era. And if you windsurf, well there's hardly a day that goes by that isn't honking somewhere. Good luck and have fun!

EastsidA - I wouldnt miund the drive up there because I windsurf as well so if there arent any waves I can find a good sailing spot!!! Did someone die who used to surf here? The first message sounds as if the guy is talking to a deceased.

Surfing for visitors to Guysborough County - We own the DesBarres Manor Inn in Guysborough and are always looking new activities for our guests. Is this area easy to access for our guests? Can they rent boards locally? Any direction you could provide on this would be helpul. We never saw Guysborough County as a surf destination, but where there's waves ...
