English (Traducir este texto en Español): typical south bay beach break....totally dependant on shifting sand bars.....best after a rain.....but beware water quality after wet storms....picks up most swell directions except straight south....best bet... big winter mornings with east winds.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): i grew up surfing here in the 70s.....it used to get pretty good fairly regular......but the sand doesn't flow in the bay like it used to.....and the surf just isn't the same....still gets some classic early am sessions if you find a peak away from the crowd....you can still score here!
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): if the sand....the swell....and the tide is right....and it's not too crowded....you can find some really fun good surf in this area!

photos courtesy mcshots.com
no reproduction without permission

winter and spring/early summer - south side Manhattan Pier can get awesome with a slite combo from the south west mixed with a touch of windswell. but yeah, the surf is pretty fun year round but the kooks who live here. I'll pass, stay below the mean high tide line.

I agree - Manhattan is a great place to surf. Last weekend it was on, but yeah. Snobville USA. What is happening to the Southbay. Bunch of rich kooks moving in who rarely use the beach (except just to look at while talking to their yuppy friends on the cell phone from the midwest). I'll stay below the mean high tide line thank you. Parking also sucks here.

A classic South Bay beachbreak - When all the elements come together, Manhattan delivers powerful, hollow waves with plenty of barrel time. If you know where and when to go, you will find good waves and even parking. Plenty of hot babes to check out for the apres surf coffee and munch fest too...
