Dana Strands - Dana Strands is a great secret wave spot that can rival the Creek - have you ever surfed Pink House or The Ramp - very local group and there is this ass hole longboarder who rips the ramp....

- Dana Point, the only way I agree with this being a spot is if it is the break of the north side of the point at the far south side of strands. And if it is then two stars might be over-rating it.

Sweet spot - About two months before i went down to dana point i had been surfing in Northern CA (where i live) and building up my skills and learning the basics. When my family and i went down to Dana Point the surf was ten times better than where i go (where i live it is mostly choppy, unpredictable and non consistant a lot more than this place) I loved Dana point. The water was warm, had big round rocks to step on and awesome waves. Not too big just right for a longboard. Learning on uneasy waters like in Norcal and then coming down to Orange county you can really see the work you put into surfing payed off and surfing Dana Point you reap the benefits.

No More "Real" Dana Point! - I basically learned and refined my surfing here! And won't even go to look anymore! Now all that exists here where the point and the Bay Side were,is just breakwater, boatslips, shitty restaurants, and places to park fossil burners! The old point take off was outside that big old rock on the north side of the harbour. And if you "ate it" on takeoff, there was a shelf reef to the north side that most always sucked your board into..(before leashes) where you then got to do a reef dance amongst the sea urchins (Vana) and the barnicles.... Still will always remember the great days there surfing with Lorin Harrison,Ron Drummand,Pete Peterson, Pop's Larson, Bill Jenkins,Wayno',and a bunch of my old buddies! I really miss those days and the surf that "Used to be there!" also those days we didn't even bother with what is now called Dana Strand!if you spend the time to sort it all out, there are a few old surf films around with some footage that shows what the break was like.
