Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): The largest sand beach between Kailua-Kona and Keauhou is the popular Kahalu'u Beach Park, adjacent to the Keauhou Beach Resort. This gray sand beach is one of the most popular swimming and premium snorkeling sites in the Kona district. Home to the green sea turtles, the area is also teeming with a good variety of marine life and beautiful tropical fish which seem to be nearly tame.

- I surfed for the very first time here and I enjoyed it! I went for a lesson on my second day of vacation there and was up on my second try.
The waves during the times that I was there were nice and casual, nothing too big that a newbie like me couldn't handle. However, in the summer it doesn't always swell so there were a few days that the surf was totally dead.
Watch the snorkelers though, they like to wander into the surf area from time to time, though when the surf is off the snorkeling is pretty nice.

Rarely - This spot will not handle any size especially at low tide can be fun but I definitly would not rank it as one of the Big Islands better waves but if your a tourist you can let your girl snorkel while you paddle out.Tricky paddle in and out watch someone else or you might end up losing a fin or getting a major ding

Know thy ability - Fun spot but more sketchy than most beginners realize. Surf school isn't bad cause it keeps the riff raff in the back. People think this a easy place to learn and it is-when it's small. But when it gets fun-sized the kooks start panicking and the lifeguards are always rescuing people who shipwreck on the rocky shore. Oh and big surf and low tide can be really ugly if you get caught. You will take a serious reef pounding and get tossed into the rocks.
