Go to Kalaeloa's White Plains Beach on a day with a macking Southwest or West swell. Go when the wind is calm Konas or light North after a cold front. Swell should be overhead or better. The inside breaks at the Plains will all be shutting down, and the far outer reef breaks will be firing and walled up. Look WAAAY outside and to the west (to the right if you are facing the water), towards where the oil tankers anchor, and watch a big set come through. There will be one right-peaking cloudbreak way way out there that looks bigger and ledgier than the rest. That's it. Either paddle out to the outer reef strait out from Plains then cut back west another quarter-mile to the break, or walk down past the cabins and paddle strait out from in front of the campground. 45 minutes later, you're there!

Información adicional
The paddle keeps the lineup empty here. Over a half a mile, and plenty of sharks to keep you company. Tigers. Big ones. Better to take a boat or Jetski. But the wave, on the 4-5 days a year that it's good, is a screaming right wall that can hold North Shore power and size, similar to the now-crowded Swabbies. On the epic south we had in September 2005, bombs were dropping here. Hawaiian 10 foot barrels were lining up and exploding on the reef, and you could hear the thunder from the beach a mile away. Tow-ins were happening. If you get it on it's rare good day, you will be happy, as long as you don't get eaten getting out there. North wind or calm Konas, low tide rising, big South or big West wrap. Do it.

Ambiente
When it's on (Local scale 5 foot or better e.g. double overhead), most people will either go to Swabbies and jockey with the retired Sunset crew, or to Reefs strait out off of White Plains where they will watch Tankers break in between their sets and ponder whether or not they have the balls (or insanity) to paddle over there or not. Most do not. So, if you go you'll usually have it to yourself.

General
Next time it's epic, I'll take a boat and a shortboard. The paddle is good character-building, though.
