Información adicional
LEAVE VALUBLES AT HOME , BE READY TO CHARGE W/ THE RIGHT SWELL, THE LEFT HAS BEEN SAID TO RESEMBLE A MID SIZE TROPU , ON A BETTER DAY. Superb, wooded park and white sand beach. Camping, beach cabins, picnicking. Moku Auia (Goat Island) offshore contains an Eden-like beach (reachable by wading at low tide when the sea is calm) and a state bird sanctuary (off limits to public). Note: Wading to Moku Auia can be dangerous (strong currents exist when the tides change or the surf is high; ocean floor has sharp coral - be sure to protect your feet.)
Goat Island has waves almost all year round due to steady trade swells and north, north west wraps. However, the winds are almost always unfavorable. In the summer its pretty popular because its one of the few places on the east side that has anything to ride. When the trades are blowing, portugese man-o-war (blue bubbles, blue bottles) are a constant threat...you will most likely get stung. Most of the local surfers have a pretty high tolerance to the stings though. If you are not used to the stings, it can be nasty. Best times are winter days when Kona wind conditions are common (southerly or light and variable). Also it must be noted that Goat Island lies adjacent to a river that sometimes deposits dead animals and other things into the area that attract sharks. Avoid surfing here when the water is brown! Laie Bay is also the legendary home of a Shark god who goes in the form of a 30ft+ Tiger Shark. True or not, most legends have some basis in fact, so take that for what its worth. Laie is one of the most beautiful places you'll ever find and is definately worth a visit. The view from Laie Point is simply spectacular!

overblown - Totally blown out and still crowded. Always waist high mush, short period slop. I got stung pretty bad, too. At least the really long paddle was some exercise. Might as well stay home and drink beer.
