Jones Beach is a state park... meaning VERY CROWDED by lifeguards... move down if you want to surf. Don't even bother during the weekend. Look for the large tower, and follow the signs.
NOTE: Certain areas are crowded, West End is NOT, there are NO lifeguards at West End. Surfing is great, it is not crowded.

 Información adicional

Don't go from the months of June to August ULTRA CROWDED... just move down away from the lifeguards, they will call you into their watch. Family beach. I prefer TOBAY beach, less family and localism. Fun wave, nice winter swells. Can get big, when its too big, it gets sloppy. You need a town permit to park at TOBAY. Nice around 6-8ft. NOTE: Not crowded at West End ever.

Ambiente

Once again... ULTRA CROWDED during the week and weekends. Best to stay after lifeguards leave... families go too, or go early. Frigid winters, but the swells are worth it.

Inaccurate Location - I grew up going to Jones Beach as a kid. Very crowded, but otherwise fine. But it is a few miles east of where google earth seems to plot it. Its closer to 73 degrees 30 minutes West between the Meadowbrook and Jones Beach Causeway.

- I've been there a couple times. Feild 6 is probably the best and if your smart you'll get there early. Summer is pretty bad because schools out and everybody is at the beach, which means crowds are going to be insane. Oh yah, great place for skimboarding to.

totally not worth it! - First off, good luck getting into a parking lot with a surboard on top of your car. Most of the time the gaurds will tell you to leave. The waves suck and the crowds are even worse. Jones Beach is for all the people in Queens / Brooklyn looking to get away from Queens and Brooklyn.
