English (Traducir este texto en Español): Park your car and get ready for a hike. The jetty is 2-3 more miles south of the parking spot with no roads to get there. The wave can get epic with the right conditions. It is best for rights with it tubing on a good day for 25 yards or so. Look to get there on the rising tide and watch out for fishermen they will hook you. Make sure you swimming ability is good because the nearest lifegaurds are 12 miles away. During 'cane season it is best producing overhead to double overhead swells.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): This is a IBSP favorite and not many know about it. There is never a crowd in the water, except holiday weekends. The vibe is relaxed and mellow and the locals dont seem to travel down that far. There are a few over zealous lifeguards but prove you can rip and your set

Surfed it in '74! - Wolfman and I used to fish Island Beach all the time, and we would always check out the inlet to figure out what the best conditions would be to surf it. Finally, one day on a clean northeast groundswell with a light southwest wind, the rights on the northern side of the inlet, about a quarter-mile out past the submerged rocks beyond the end of the north jetty, perfect 4-6' lines peeling for two hundred yards with makeable sections. Dammit, I wish I took photos...one of the best surf sessions I ever had in NJ, and that's coming from someone who lived from '62 to '86 a two-minute walk down the street from Casino Pier SSH. Good luck catching it, and if you do, take photos, cuz it doesn't get good very often.

not worth the walk - 30 min walk down the beach, fisherman trying to snag u from the jetty, rocks, rips, and right around the corner from toms river, where that great white killed a bunch of people all within a couple weeks back in the day. wouldnt go back, waves werent any better than the sand bars all the way up and down the state park beach anyway
