Ambiente
The Elbow in Sheboygan is the most-surfed spot on the Great Lakes. A good south swell can bring all the hoodlums out of the woodwork. A weekend with a decent swell running can put 10-30 guys in the line-up. Forunately, everyone is VERY cool. Also, the wave, on a chest+ day, is extremely long, so the crowd is dispersed.

General
The wave is on the North side of the breakwall. A south wind will genrate a swell, which wraps around the breakwall. As it wraps, it cleans-up, and the wind gets blocked. Hence, a clean wave. Walk-out on the jetty to the "elbow". Scamper down the rocks and jump in. A rip runs along side the jetty. This is useful for getting out on big days. The wave is soft, (which is why a 9'0" is considered a funshape) but long. On a bigger day, you can pick-up a wave past the elbow, and surf it all the way to shore; about 500 yards. It's not Full-on J-bay speed, but it's leg-achingly long.
DOn't go out of your way to surf it, but if you find yourself in Dairyland, why not surf?

- watch out for a character named Longboard Larry. He will befriend you, talk your ear off, and keep you out of the water. When all is said and done, he will then talk behind your back, and make fun of you with who ever he chats with next.
