tu shea" I'm callled out" - On the Internet Its far to easy to anonymous I am not any kind of authority on this spot I grew up on Whidbey island and spent two years on Kauai where I learned how to surf. I never hit up the strait but I never experienced any kind of localism on Whidbey or even on Kauai. I just guess im kind of an anarchist and the whole aspect of not being able to surf somewhere caught my interest. I will definitely make my way out here my self to scope it out. Just from the little research I did it seemed like you could get away with it. I don’t meen to offend. I just kind of wanted to stir the pot to be perfectly honest. As far as localism in Washington, your from Washington your from Washington period. P.A. Whidbey, Westport we are the same state and we should unite. I’m sorry if I pissed anybody off I was really just killing time thanks for the fog idea too.

To anon Whitbey Boy.... - What's your problem anyway? Now you admit you've never tried surfing this spot, yet you talk like a total authority on it. What gives? You say you can paddle it "from a distance"... like from PA, about 1 mile accross, in the shipping lanes, and "out of sight of people" - like out of sight of the Lighthouse staff whose job it is to scan the area from on high to protect the very spit you claim is so easy to surf under the radar? They don't even allow pleasure kayakers NEAR the point - its protected for a fragile bird and other species. This is the primary function of their job and so they take it and their laws very seriously, as well as the fines... Try to access it, and tell us all what happens. Until then, you can talk all you want, but lack real-world (and legal) experience on the matter. The only way you can get away with it is under heavy fog - in which case you'd have to walk the 6 miles each way, as it would be too dangerous to paddle the wide channel in blinding fog - ships....

Whidbey? - If you are from Whidbey Island, what right do you have to come and surf PA? The guys on Whidbey Island have a reputation for bad localism. Is this true? If so, what gives you the right to surf in someone else's "turf" (by that reasoning)?

- yes I may be in Island Boy (whidbey island) all Im saying is if you paddle out to the spot from a distance (of corse not right in front of the people) you will get away with it. My brother is in the Coast Gard and he tells me they got a lot more shit to deal with then surfers. The worst you will get is a stern warning. And yes I will paddle out to this spot someday and I a get caught then I get get caught. Its funny you think I'm tough local boy. I just willing to take a risk.

Tough guy - still takes long walk - It is a six mile walk to get to this break, each way. There is a constant rotation of sanctuary protection staff LIVING in the lighthouse overlooking the break, and they will be the fist to tell you not to enter the water with your surfboard. It is a highly protected environmental spit. If you enter teh water anyway, the coast guard will be out for you in about 15 minutes. You will be fined about $450 and have to appear in court - but at least you won't have to take the 6 mile hike back. Your tough talk is ill-conceived, because you have no idea what you are talking about. You don't live here, don't knwo those who have tried to surf Lighthouse, so should nto comment. But go ahead, Kauai local boy, be my guest.

who cares - It dosn't mean sh--t if its marine sanctuary. you can still surf it with no prob. Mavericks is a marine sanctuary and they even tow in there. Its not like the epa is going to bust you. The worst thing is they will tell you to get out. It funny that you think that the photo is a hoax. I have surfed at a Restricted military beach "barking sands north of Polahole " on Kauai with no problem. You must be very law abiding surfer to think that surfing here is "brazen".

Not Legal - The area beyond the lighthouse, at the cul-de-sac where the point ends, is illegal to surf - it is a marine sanctuary. But it probbaly does get great surf. It would be a 6 mile walk each way. If those pictures are legit, they could have only been taken from the lighthouse, due to their elevation. It is my guess that these people were able to stay at the lighthouse (through prior arrangements) and had a friend take pictures while they surfed - but considering it is illegal to surf out at the point, that would have been very brazen of them. So most likley the pictures are a hoax.

shallow danger zone - Does anyone know anything about the really shallow break out towards the right after crossing the little bridge on the public beach? If given the right conditions it looks like it could be worth the risk...anyone seen anyone out there, other than the fishing boats?
