E Beach - The last couple times I was up there visiting a friend the 5th Street jetty wasn't breaking at all, think the past hurricanes have washed it out. I will say East Beach and just at the tip before crossing the channel to sea island there is some good wave activity, just very sloppy, but it's surfable. I longboarded at east beach in late fall, it was very clean, small but more or less just fun session with friends.

St. Simons Surf Spots - Due to hurricanes displacing the sand in recent years, fifth street no longer breaks. The only place on the island that breaks is the stretch of beach directly behing the King and Prince, a famous resort. Occassionally East Beach might work, but the sandbars are extremely fickle. Usually the best bet in the area is the jetty on Sea Island, which can block wind and clean up drifty conditions. However, the access is limited and Sea Island is private property. I usually drive to Gould's Inlet at the end of East Beach and paddle across to the tip of Sea Island. Hazards include sharks hunting at the river mouth, fast changing conditions and rip tides. After surfing the river mouth and paddling back across the inlet, it can be difficult climbing over the rocks to get to the beach. This is not a beginner spot and depending on how high the tide is and how fast the river current is, the paddle out can be tiresome. This spot is constantly changing due to shifting sandbars around the river mouth. The inlet is best right before high tide and does not break at low tide (maybe on a hurricane swell). After paddling across, a short walk will take you around the dunes and up to the breaking wave, which can be out of sight from the parking lot. Bring a friend and don't cut your self on the rocks, there are lots of sharks in this area. Enjoy uncrowded waves and a possibly a good session with bros.
