Frisco - Frisco is the worst spot on the outer banks 99.9 % of the time. South swell and North winds mean nothing. Go here if you want to get skunked, locals don't even check it for good reason. Then one day you could stumble upon sick surf, but don't count on it.

1989.... - Hurricane Gabrielle in 1989...the big clean day when the rest of the Outer Banks was still huge and windy.
Perfect north winds and hollow peeling lefts. The paddle out was about 100 yards out past the end of the pier, on the outer sandbar, and it was breaking from way on the north side of the pier, all the way to south side with a few different lineups to sit at....and holding size the whole way through. The water was that light blue/green color and there were dolphins everywhere, surfing the waves with us. I even rode a nice smaller set wave behind two dolphins, and then saw another two dolphins swim up the face of the wave (a smaller double overhead wave), and then do a huge half front flip over the back of the wave, like it was seaworld....as I surfed underneath it looking up and cheering.
That first clean morning at Frisco Pier, and the next morning at Rodanthe Pier, and then perfect Ferry Signs in the afternoon, were some of the best waves I've ever surfed anywhere...and I've surfed some good spots in Baja and Nor Cal/So Cal during some good swells.
I just wish I could catch some more days like that now.

airstrip rocks - The pier sucks monkey nuts but over at the airstrip and further up to the point can pump on south swells and any north wind.
