Hooks is gay. - That's right. This spot never EVER breaks. It's good for looking for sharks teeth and that is it. No reason to come here. Nothing to see here. The water is ugly and dogs poop on the beach. Full of sharks, too. So I wouldn't even come here to paddle. It's best you just move on down to Huge Nuts park and surf there.

comeback - Hooks is back. 2-3 hours before high tide, as per the usual. They haven't dredged in a few years it seems. On a north-east swell that is bigger than 3 ft., this spot magnifies what the report calls for by a few extra feet. Worth checking out, NOT FOR KOOKS. This spot breaks more boards than any other I know in this region. This spot is magic when it hits 8 ft. As for the earlier posting laughing at the 'dina, check your tide report, Barney.

SAY WHAT - anywhere in florida doesn't get the consistent surf of california, hawaii, or any other powerhouse obviously mr. "try cali". In fact, throughout my travels I have found florida to be the most stuckup, localized area I have ever surfed. And yes, I have surfed all the spots from australia, france, california, indonesia, hawaii and even japan mr. try cali. For those of you that care Hooks is no more...dredging by the army corp of engineers has rendered this place extinct. There is still some fun surf to be had about 200 yards south near main beach. The sandbars are starting to work again (for the first time in nearly ten years!) Fernandina does posses the heaviest waves in north florida without a doubt, but you can count on it being about two feet smaller (depending on the swell size) than anywhere else in north florida due to depth of the local waters off-shore. Northern fernandina does have a tendency to be more dominant with barrells than most of the other areas. This place can get mean on a large swell, but c'mon this is florida we are talking about how often do we see a large swell.
