Great weekend - Awesome conditions, apparently most of the time, but better in winter (Dec-Feb) from what I was told. Good chest-head high surf with a light onshore during the day while I was there, but excellent form and LOTS of potential with the right winds, especially the morning offshore from the mountains or a passing storm. I spent a weekend going from La Caracola to Los Naranjos in the summer of '03 and it was incredible. A few hour hike from one to the other, and a whole lot of surfing in between. Walking from one to the other, you pass by so many small coves to just stop and surf for a while, the climb a cliff, walk through some jungle, and end up at another cove to do the same again. Almsot ended up at Arecifes, but that part of the trip was unexpectedly cut short. Hamacas, rice and water and blankets waere all we needed to bring, with wood for a fire and wild coconuts everywhere and maybe some fishing for a good meal was all that was needed. An hour or two walk and you could go to the one local restaurant or pass by a house that doubled for a small store for bread, drink, and water and all was well. Try to get with someone who knows the area, keep courteous and humble (no matter how good you think you are) and it should all be excellent. A highly recommended trip, I just wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks Raul and espcially Carlos.
