English (Traducir este texto en Español): With "Carola" and "Loberia", "Tongo Reef" is one of the best waves in Ecuador. These three waves are more than enough for a trip to Galapagos.
Ambiente
English (Traducir este texto en Español): In the first/last months of the year the water is very hot. The swell is regular and the waves break around 3 meters. It's one wave with 3 take-off points, called by the locals "Pico" (the bigger one), "Medio" and "Bajito" (the small one at the end).
General
English (Traducir este texto en Español): On a good day I have seen people take 300 meters long waves. Perfect and exausting but FUN, very FUN.

- They didn't let me in despite my being really polite with fluent Spanish. Seems like they have tightened the rules. Get a boat or go to La Loberia if you are there in South Swell season

tongo access - A brief note from San Cristobal , access seems to be somewhat arbitrary depending on whose manning the gates . Walking in across the base IS illegal without consent any direction one chooses . The trails from the top are also closed ( iguana reserve )and can be very difficult in the dark .From my experience the best route seems to be by boat . Loberias can be surfed as a consolation legaly . The wave ( tongo ) is very fun , is better than loberia and the local crew are cool as hell .

SeaLions rule - Fast left, sharp rocks. Amazing to surf next to sea lions. Not crowded at all in may. Locals are the friendliests of all ecuador. Just make sure to enter to the military with your passport and be polite. Be sure to take something to eat and lots of water. You can surf it from sunrise to sunset.
